i hope she DOES change it! is she allowing you to see her gown now?
if it's still the same... remember this: YOU are the bride and everyone in attendance knows that. no one can steal the spotlight from you!

OMG I cant believe she said 'I guess I'm the bride'. She sounds like a psycho. She should meet my MIL. I still swear mine will show up in a champagne dress!

I'm so sorry! I hope she is making changes!
In the long run, though, remember that she will look foolish, not you. It's still your special day--you are going to be the most beautiful woman in the room no matter what she wears!

I'm sorry she was such a pain... hopefully she got some sense knocked into her and will totally change the dress. You have every right to be mad/upset with her, she was being difficult. YOU are the BRIDE and it is YOUR wedding, you and FH should have seen her dress... there's no reason for a surprise. Did she see your dress?
I'm sure everything will be fine, and as the above girls said, you're the bride, all eyes are going to be on YOU.

I dont even know what to say without really insulting your FMIL .. That is ridiculous. Everything about it .. from the not even caring enough to remember what your dress looks like, to the comment made, to her duplicitous manner in the bedroom with the seamstress ..
Ew. Are you having a ring bearer or FG? you should have them accidentally spill something all over her dress
In all seriousness though, I agree with the other girls.. You will look amazing on your day and she will never take center stage... no matter what she wears. She will look like a fool trying to wear something the bride is wearing. Ugh .. Sorry youre going through that - hopefully she changes it.

agreed cuz everyone knows the bride picks her dress way beforehand.
Just make sure she doesn't wear a tiara.
Also, maybe make a slight change to yours to make it stand out..a broach, feather..I put a feather on one shoulder!

How did she now know it looked like yours when she saw yours already? She made the choice to then buy a dress that looks just like yours

Re: I knew it! FMIL dress looks like mine!- Long, sorry!
UGH! I hope it gets changed! I would be SO upset and I can't believe she did that!
I never had a problem with FMIL until we got engaged too and now it's like EVERYTHING she says isn't coming true and she ignores everything I say. I told her NOT to get black, navy, or brown. My mom went out and bought a royal blue dress which is STUNNING! I showed FMIL to show her the color and what it looked like. FMIL came home one day saying she purchased her dress (didn't even let me see it before she purchased it to make sure it was the right color and style). Side note: FMIL ALWAYS tells me 'you're like a daughter to me and I treat you like you are my own'. REALLY LADY?!?! Would you buy a dress without your daughter seeing it? Would you tell your daughter you're paying for her shower and then say nevermind? I could go on and on! How would you feel if your daughters MIL called her to clarify a fight between husband and wife!?!?! Anyway, FMIL ended up getting navy because she thought my mom's dress was teal! PLUS SHE GOT A REALLY DARK NAVY! I saw a picture this weekend and it lookd black in pictures (which is why I didn't want navy). I just know how I felt throughout all of this with my FMIL so I can only IMAGINE how you feel about yours! HOPEFULLY it changes and HOPEFULLY she smartens up and lets you be in the spotlight on your day!

Omg! Whoa! Well to me it def sounds like she purposely did this and is now getting nervous and having 2nd thought of all the probs shell cause.
I'm glad she's changing it! But either way YOU'RE the bride!! And everyone will see her and see how effing rediculous she looks!

yeah well if she doesn't change it, I'd wait til right before the wedding and 'accidentally' spill something that will NEVER come out all over it. OOPS!

Ew.
What a tacky broad.
Don't feel bad that she cried, and don't feel bad that she needs to find a new dress within the next week and a half.
She's the one who put herself up a creek without a paddle.
You have enough to do in the last few days before your wedding, don't let this get to you.

wow, she has got some balllls. I wouldnt even know where to begin to deal with this. She knows shes in the wrong completely, Sounds like shes trying to live vicariously through your wedding., Good move with the seemstress you get points for that !! Id make it well known that im unhappy with her- that might give her the reality check that she could potentially be hurting her future relations with her Dil. Good Luck

Everything always works out, no matter how hard she tries she will never steal the spotlight from you.
And from experience it definitely will work out, my MIL bought a WHITE dress to wear, and she ended up not even showing up, which was better anyway.
