Update on drama:

There is none.

I am going to have to be the one to cave and call?

I shouldn't be doing this. I've been doing that for so many years, and this so catty on my part, but I feel I owe NONE of my family an apology.

i have a bad feeling that if I don't I will not have a shower. my FMIL called this morning and told me until my 'drama' is settled, she cannot bring herself to call my mother.

Re: Update on drama:

FH is insisting I don't call for self pride, and if he has too, he'll throw a shower.

I love him, dearly, and I know he means well, but something tells me if this is only going to get worse.

It will probably get worse.

They never responded to your email?

Who would you call? Mom? Dad?

In the past, during stand offs like this, who is easier to talk to?

Re: Update on drama:

i think you should just bite the bullet and call them ... or possibly, go to their house and speak face-to-face.

when my mom and i were fighting, i made this silly book and titled it 'it could have been worse' ... i put all sorts of really stupid scenarios in it of things that i could have chosen for my wedding ... when she saw it, she started laughing and i was happy that we at least started off on a good note.

can you find some way to make light of the situation?

It's hard to. In the past, I always had to be the 'bigger' person when it came to my sister. My parents (and even my grandmother and aunt have mentioned this to me) put my sister on a high horse. They always told them how great my sister was. 'Oh Jess? yea, she's just working full time, and her hair is pink this time, don't know if she'll ever grow up'.

Well, the roles reversed. Now all of a sudden they talk me up like I'm the golden child with a knight in shining armor....I STILL don't like it. They treat me and my sister differently, and I actually do feel really bad for my sister when it comes to my parents and they way they are to her now. That's why I am frustrated with my sister, I am trying to help her, not hurt her. I gave her the role of MOH simply to occupy her mind and make her feel semi-important in my wedding process.

Long story short: She had a bad break up, went to the WRONG people for advice, moved out, got evicted and was forced to come home. She dropped out of school too, and she was doing much better than I was. Softball scholarship and everything. I had nothing. So my parents are dealing with her, and they have even given it a name, 'phase 2', meaning that they've done this before.

I think I was a little different. At least my bills got paid, and I was seeing one guy at a time. And I wasn't lying so much. I told white lies to my parents because I was at a point in my life where they didn't need to know the details of everything I did. Now, I just dont care and I actually haven't told a lie to them, since I met FH actually.

I know delaying this probably makes it worse. I may just give it another night.

Re: Update on drama:

delaying it will not make it worse .... but from what i've read so far, you're REALLY down on yourself about this (saw your lunch post saying you ate cereal, and that was the first thing you've eaten in days) ... talking to them, though it sounds horrible, will probably make things better ... and you can get on with your life and be normal again.

I just don't even know how to begin it at this point. What if they really didn't read it (which to me sounds IMPOSSIBLE since like I said, Dad is married to his laptop)? What if they felt I was out of line to say the things I said about there finances and how angry I was about the way the talked to my FH? those are the questions running through my head. I refuse to listen to anymore badgering and anything else that makes me feel small enough.

And I certainly will not be told they are my superiors. <--- I cannot tell you how many times they have said to me, and I feel this time, since I am pretty much standing on my own, better than they are, I'm just a tad bit more superior, and I can very easily NOT be mean and throw that in there face.

UH, is it day 6 yet???? (still on period).

and yeah, I bet that too.

Re: Update on drama:

you have to go with whatever makes you comfortable. if that means waiting another day or two before speaking to them, then so be it.

when you do speak with them, try not to get angry (though it may be really difficult or even impossible) and try not to take any cheap shots (like about their finances or them being 'inferior' to you). ultimately, your getting angry will just make this stupid fight last longer
