my boss told me she won't be able to come to the wedding. she said it would be an awkward situation. she told me that the former co-worker was fired. i told her that i would seat them at separate tables. i'm a little disappointed. she really wants to come to the wedding. i understand how it would be awkward. i told a former co-worker and she called my boss a coward. im disappointed so that made me feel worse. i'll talk to her(boss) tomorrow to see if i could change her mind. we have a great work relationship. with her not coming, now i'm 7 people under the mininum.
sorry a little long

Re: update on my boss regarding the wedding
Wow, I'm not sure how your boss was able to make this about her, but she did. She's selfish...I'm sorry, I won't sugarcoat it. She rather hurt you or make you choose between YOUR guests rather than be an adult and witness such a momentous occasion in your life? Also, how will she act when she sees you at work? Won't that make her feel worse? And the fact that she already RSVP'd yes and is now changing her mind...hmmm, yeah, it stinks.
I hope she comes around because it's her that's going to feel bad afterwards...I mean, you'll return from your HM with pictures and stories, won't that be odd for her?
From my own experience, people that want to be there will be there...no matter what. I had HUGE drama with my family due to very real reasons (religion, not some job related drama) and no one was coming at first...then at the end my brother and his family said they wouldn't attend. Luckily, they have a conscience and two days before the wedding asked me if they could come. I know it's not the same because she's not a relative or a sibling (as was my case), but she might regret not being there...and that may be worse than attending and her feeling 'awkward'.

Re: update on my boss regarding the wedding
Oh Gail I am sorry - hopefully she will come around.....if anyone, its the girl that was fired who should feel awkward. There were PLENTY of people at my wedding who didnt talk to each other - for example my mothers family and my fathers family! They were seated on opposite sides of the room. I think she should just grin and bear it and put her feelings aside for the day - after all - its YOUR day, not hers.

Re: update on my boss regarding the wedding
Two of my friends weren't speaking to each other for a1 1/2 years and were at my really small shower. All was well... At my wedding will be two former employees and good friends of mine and my bosses. Don't see any issues as they won't be seated together. BUT.... FH has 3 sets of bosses. 2 are brothers that haven't been on speaking terms in years. (yet they own a business together) Bro A replied yes first. bro B replied no 'due to prior obligations' and Bro B's kid boss 3 also can't come but fessed up that it was due to the fight. ***** and it put me below my min but I just invited newer friends that wouldn't get insulted. always drama!

That stinks!! I can't believe she can't look past the akwardness of the situation. Geez, my whole wedding is akward b/c of the all the family members that can't stand each other, lol. Definitely talk to your boss, and really let her know how much it will mean to you for her to be there.....I hope you can change her mind.

Re: update on my boss regarding the wedding
Gail that stinks! I'd ask her one more time, and if she still says no, I would drop it. I would rather the boss not be there than have her get into a fight with the girl that was fired.
