Update on my job situation (demo lesson tomorrow!)

Update on my job situation (demo lesson tomorrow!)

So I went on that job interview I was telling you ladies about earlier in this post and I think I got the job....BUT! The salary is RIDICULOUSLY LOW! I can't afford to live on it especially with a wedding coming up...

I am certified to teach ELA 7-12 but substitute teaching was giving me second thoughts about teaching. But I spoke to a lot of people about it and they told me to just stick with it because it's different when you have your own classroom...I think this job search is helping me realize that maybe I do need to stick with it...

So to cut a long story short, i've been subbing and I actually applied to a school, and I LOVE the school! (this definitely came as a surprise because i've been hating subbing and teaching for the past few weeks!) So I'm going in for my very first demo lesson tomorrow

So I need some moral support! Also, for you teachers out there, do you have any suggestions for ELA lesson plans for 7th graders? TIA!

Edited: I student taught sixth grade and I got good scores for my observation lessons, I was wondering if I should use one of those for the demo lesson? One is on the kinds of sentences (Interrogative, declarative, etc.) and the other one is on the basic use of commas...what do u think?

I teach 9th and 11th ELA/inclusion. My best suggestion for a demo lesson would be to do something that will grab the student's attention. I would use one of those lessons because you feel comfortable with them. Best of luck. Which school district?? FM if u dont want to post.

I do remember your original post about not sure about teaching. I'm glad you decided to stick with it. I don't really have any suggestions for you but I wanted to wish you good luck tomorrow at your demo lesson.

I totally agree. You want to be comfortable and show that you are confident in your lesson. Definitely do something that will grab the student's attention and will help them keep up thier interest thoughtout the lesson. Good luck with the demo!!!
