update on my nephew

his mom called and she will be coming in for his bday party....then going back to Vegas
then she wants to pick him up when my SIL has her baby which is July 17th or around that time

He is doing so much better,he is eating and pottytrained and finally starting to play nice with the kids
I hate to see him go back home with his mom
I guess we will see what happens on the 13th when she comes

I am so happy to hear things are getting better as he spends more time with you and your family! You are truly wonderful people!

Have you guys spoken with the authorities? I'm just concerned for you because there's nothing stopping your SIL from contacting the authorities and saying you took him from her. I know it's not necessarily hostile right now and obviously she requested this BUT unless you file reports and complaints and/or have a notarized letter from her stating that you are to take care of this child, she could seriously turn the tables on you guys. Given how obviously unstable she is, this is totally not out of the question.

It also seems like the last thing that should happen is this child going back home with her. Is there anyway you would consider speaking with a social worker about this, at least to see what, if any, options there are?

I totally agree! Please see what course of action you can take, if any.
He deserves to remain with you guys...I don't think it would do him any good if she took him back with her!!

I agree. Child and Social Services shouldn't let her take him back given how little he weighed and how malnourished he was (also the not potty trained!). You would have to be willing to go to court for him though. I feel so sorry for the little guy going back to her. I thought originally she had wanted you to keep him for good?

I was actually going to FM you today, I was wondering how he was doing.
That is great that he is doing better, but July seems to soon for him to go home. Maybe when she comes to visit , you & your DH can try & talk some sense into her. OR if he does go back with her, willseh at least enroll him in school? Then maybe the at least someone there will se what is going on.

i hate to say it but i believe that 100%. but maybe if you try here(where you are) and see what happens! i wish you good luck! i was taken away from my birthmom and to tell you the truth i am very happy i was!!!!!!!!!! after this past year with her i relized my 'dreams' of her where just that dreams!
