UPDATE: Please help with B-day plans

UPDATE: PLEASE SCROLL DOWN!
My b-day is Saturday and I would like spend the entire morning / afternoon doing something different. I've never been to a vineyard or bed and breakfast.
Any recommendations??? anywhere in Long Island or maybe westchester.
Oh, i forgot; not too expensive ($300 -400)

Thank you ladies

Oh we went to vineyard in North Fork and went to an amazing B & B there - great breakfasts - the owners were from the caribbean so it was this huge interesting food spread, and the owners were so friendly and helpful and fun. . that's actually where FH and I got engaged (not at the B and B) It was the Arbor View Bed and Breakfast - then we went to some wineries - I think it was 275 a night but would prob be cheaper now b/c we went in peak season. . FM me if you want more info

You can visit the vineyards without staying overnight if that is something you would want to do. The best place to start is Palmer Vineyard. It's on Sound Ave and is one of the first vineyards. Bring along a fabulous picnic of cheeses/crackers/dips/chip/grapes whatever you like. My friends and I pack soo much food, people usually think we're setting up an event. Palmer has great space in the back porch and they have a live band playing. To insure a table and or chairs get there before noon. Enjoy yourself there, and then head east to other vineyards. Raphael on main road is one of the farthest east.. but it's beautiful. I think Pelligrini on main road is great too. Those are my main recommendations. Most of the vineyards close at 6pm. Just be forwarned The traffic is a bit slow going b/c of the pumpkin fests.
Check out a Zagat or google North Fork vineyards for more info. Its a lot of fun, especially if you plan to go with some friends.

B&Bs are cute but we had a weird experience. The people were so quiet and homey that we felt weird even talking loud in the room. It was a gorgeous place, but we almost felt like we were in a cheesy horror movie and we were gonna be slashed lol. We laugh about it all the time.. def. an experience.
I'd def. check out vineyard tours.. there are some great ones out east.

Do you mean like 'getting on the bus' tour?

Is there a website for tours of the vineyards?

Montauk in the fall, off season is nice. There is foxwoods or mohegan-a simple ferry ride away. If you stay off location, you can get a room cheaper on the weekend.

I know is a stupid question, but do you wear high heel boots??

Depending on the temperature outside.. I think it's going to get cooler now.. you can wear boots as most of the places you are actually inside. Dress code I'd be dressy-casual.. cute jeans or cords & sweater /sweater vest/ cardigan or a wrap over a top. Dress is layers so if you're warm inside sipping wine.. you can take off a layer.
If you've never been to the vineyard.. they usually just sell wine by the glass or you can do tastings were they sell you small small portions of usually 3 types of wine.. starting light and working up to red. we usually just get chardonay or merlot by the glass.
Some vineyards have etched glasses and if you carry a big pocketbook, and no one is looking you could have 2 souveniers. just make sure you drink the wine first!!
