so i posted earlier abt a florist that does not normally provide sample cps before/after booking (free of cost)... thx for the response ladies..i emailed her the following:
Hello,
So a sample is not provided at all? We have already met with a few florists and some have even offered to supply a centerpiece sample (free of cost) before committing to a contract, others offer a sample (again free of cost) after signing a contract. What is your shop's common practice?
Jeannette
she responded:
Our general practice is to provide samples, if desired, either before or after signing a contract, at cost. While many companies increase the cost of their centerpieces to cover the extra cost of a sample, we price our centerpieces competitively and as such do not cover the cost free samples. As I have learned from the beginning in this business, 'there ain't such thing as a free lunch', all costs are covered by higher prices or lower quality.
what to do??? she's got a 4.9 out of 5 on weddingwire.com but no shop??? i'm confused...should i pay for a sample? btw..her prices are LOWWWW

Re: update to my cp sample question...
depends how much the sample costs....
and how many good reviews are there on weddingwire?
if the sample cost is reasonable then i say might as well pay for a sample if the cost in the end is going to save you money...

Re: update to my cp sample question...
If her prices are that low it might be worth it to pay for a sample... you'll have to do the math and see if they're that much lower than the shops that provide a free sample. I mean, she does make a valid point I guess - especially if her prices reflect that.

Re: update to my cp sample question...
her business rationale is crazy. people like to think they're getting free things even if that's not the case.
that said, if you got a good vibe from the store and you like their pictures then pay for the sample, if its a good price.

I'm just thinking that if it's not that expensive and you'd save serious cash it'd be worth it to pay for the sample. Is this the one that quoted you 200 each for the tall centerpiece?

Re: update to my cp sample question...
i don't know. sounds shady to me.
when i went in to 6 of the florists i looked at with the same exact pictures in my book i put together, i got quotes from $2k to $4800 for the same EXACT thing and i heard the same shpeel how some people use cheaper things and yadda yadda yadda.
a peony is a peony and hydrangea is hydrangea (at least on my end b/c i specifically picked what i wanted) and i knew exactly what i wanted. id move on to the next florist if this was the case for me
