UPDATE: Wedding ring -- FH is SO amazing!!!
UPDATE:
We went to a jeweler by our parents house in Rockland County and they worked with us and are actually going to fill-in the inside of the original band with white gold and engrave it for us! So, in the end I'm getting the band i'm in love with and they're fixing it so that it can be engraved (after we were told by 2 other jewlery places that it couldnt be done!). The ring is gonna be ready by next Tuesday!!!!!
So, this is a long and confusing story, but bare with me.
A year ago FH and I went and purchased my wedding band -- we were told it was engravable on the inside and to bring it back a few months before the wedding and they'd engrave it for free. WELL we brought it back a month ago and low and behold they say 'oh no, thats not engravable....we would have never told you it was'
we took it to 2 more jewelers to see if they could engrave it somehow, but they couldnt. SO, we took the ring to FH's jeweler and told him to get another one JUST like it that IS engravable and we'd just swap it. But, we said, dont do it unless you can get one practically identical (because I LOVED this band).
Fastforward to yesterday. We go and pick up the new band from FH's jeweler. I was SO disappointed....it just wasnt the same. The miligrain around the edges was tiny and hardly noticeable, the band was much thicker than my original one and it just looked weird with my e-ring, and WORST of all: the white gold of the band was more yellow-looking than my e-ring....so they dont match! They already engraved the inside of the band so we cant take it back either. FH knew I wasnt in love with it (he could totally see it in my face) but I told him I'd be fine and I'd get used to it.
Well, today FH told me after dinner that we can spend the day tomorrow going to local jewelers and go see if we can find a new wedding ring for me. We dont have the money for this right now, but we're going to see if maybe they'll kind of do a 'swap' one ring for the other -- we dont mind paying a little bit of the difference (especially since it was engraved already and they'll have to buff that out). Hopefully we can do this -- its worth a shot. Even if we cant, Fh is so amazing for even offering to do this. He knew how upset I was over it and he said he just didnt want me to not love my ring and change it down the road. He wants to do this before the wedding because he feels that once you exchange vows with a ring, you should keep that ring forever -- so he wants me to love it.
It was such a small gesture, but it made me feel SO lucky to be marrying him in one month!!!!!! He's freakin amazing -- especially because i KNOW we dont have the money for this right now....so it must mean a lot to him to see me happy
Okay, now im done -- just wanted to share with you wonderful ladies![]()
