My friend is (was) getting married in 6 weeks at the Holbrook Country Club. He just found out today that it's closed... no forwarding information available. The town of Islip (I think) owns it, and they are supposed to get back to him by Friday as to what options he has. If they don't have a solution for him, they have no place to have the wedding!
His fiancée just got a new job and is training out of state and doesn't know about this, he is flipping out trying to get it fixed before she comes home at the end of NEXT week. Can you imagine, coming home and finding out your hall doesn't exist anymore?
Anyway, what are some halls in that area that are inexpensive? Money is a big factor here, as they had just enough for HCC but now don't have the time to save anymore money for a more expensive hall! Does anyone know anyone that could help them out? Luckily, February isn't May or June in terms of popularity or price, but they are in a REAL bind here.

And I will keep you guys posted about what the Town does... I really hope they do right by them... but even if they do, and they find another hall, his FW is going to flip out... she really liked HCC... imagine coming home from a trip 4 weeks from your wedding and being told 'guess what honey? we're changing venues? or not having a venue at all!?'
I really hope they get this resolved.

I 've heard ALOT of stories where brides got good prices on last min bookings because of cancelations. They might want to just start calling around to everywhere. My one friend who booked 8 weeks before her wedding found places that had multiple weddings were more likely to have a room available.
Also you might want to contact Daisy122. I think I saw an earlier post that said she was able to recoupe her deposit.

I just read in Newsday last week in the personals section that there is an opening in Feb for the Sandcastle for a huge discount.

Doesn't the Middle Island Country Club (or something like that) have an all inclusive deal as well? I don't think it would be too far from Holbrook either. Good Luck! What an unfortunate occurance--I hope your friends are able to rectify the situation.

My God, that is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I feel sooooo bad!!
Try the Brentwood Country Club, Meditteranean Manor or Bellport Country Club. All are relatively inexpensive

That is so rediculous, I would be FLIPPING OUT! I actually went to elementary school with the guy that ran the HCC, atleast he was running it last August when we went to look at it. Definetly look at Sunset Harbour, there prices are good. Im sure any hall that doesnt have a party booked for 6 weeks from now will work with them, Im sure they would rather less $$ than no $$$. Definetly check Mediteranean Manor and Bellport CC too although they have packages which she probably doesnt need Im sure she already has her vendors.

It looks like the Meadow Club is going to help them out--and do the party for them! He was going there after work to talk to them... so I don't know the details or if they really worked it out but I LOVE the Meadow Club (I was supposed to get married there). I really hope it works out!!
He told his fiancée over the phone and she didn't really panic, from what I understand, she just said, OK, let's make a plan... figure this all out! WOW I'd be a total wreck...
hopefully it will all come together.. Thank you ALL and he said to pass on their thanks to you!! What a whirlwind!!

I could be wrong but I heard the town of islip was going to fix this? i dont know exactly what that meant.. Do you?

I don't know what the town of Islip was going to do, they mentioned having another caterer come in, but understandably my friend doesn't want to trust them.
He signed with the Meadow Club and they were SO understanding and matched his original deal, I am so impressed with them.
So, we have a brand new wedding to look forward to!!
Anyone who had booked Holbrook Country Club, FM me, my friend wants to speak with you!!
