UPDATED - Emmas First Birthday - HELP I need Ideas!!

I have some ideas about a theme for Emmas first birthday party which is going to be on Sat. June 14th (5 days before her 1st birthday, we are going to have a small family party on her birthday though). I like Spongebob, she likes Blues Clues, Ducks... I dont know what to have. Any REALLY CUTE ideas?????

if you choose blues clues...then the guests have a better idea of what to get her...just a suggestion.

I'm not good with themes- I thought having a bday party WAS a theme!

Im not suggesting that people get her 10000000 blues clues things... but I want to have the cups, hats, decorations and cake decorated as something that will match... thats what Im looking for.

If you like Blues Clues, cut out paw prints from blue construction paper and place them up the driveway and on the floor in the house. You can also do blue cupcakes and have your husband wear that sweater that Joe wears Also, make dog ears instead of a birthday hats.

My favorite child's b-day party idea is a Willy Wonka party. And you cut out shapes from fruit roll ups and put them on construction paper and the kids can lick the paper (but really it is fruit roll-ups) and you do the invites inside the choc. bars. And you hang hug lollipops from the ceilings and stuff like that.

michele I love your Blues Clues idea... I think Emma is too young for a Wonka party but its a great idea!!!

Michele great blue's clues idea! You could take Joe's job Karen to make up for Mother's Day definitely make hubby wear the sweater

LMAO Stacey. I agree. I should make him watch BC's 24-7 to make sure he acts like Joe. I should have him spray one of our dogs blue just for her.

Not a theme but...ask guests to bring a small token of affection, hopes, dreams, current events, a picture or poem - just a few ideas but they can bring whatever they want - so you can make a First birthday time capsule for her to open when she older.

I did Blues Clues for Justin's 2nd B-day. I love Michele's Paw print idea. I also had BC on the ice cream cake. Then I made a ton of BC chocolates in the apprppirate color (Blue for the paw prints and Blue, Pink for Magenta, Purple for Periwinkle etc...) I also made cupcakes and tinted the icing to be blue and added blue and White sprinkles. Everything was a great hit.

For Paul's birthday, I had some Elmo stuff around as decorations b/c he loves Elmo and anything red. His cake had Elmo on it, too. But, I didn't over-do the 'theme.' I didn't have Elmo invites and I'm not sending Elmo thank-yous. We just had Elmo Party hats, 2 or 3 Sesame Street balloons - but the rest of the balloons were just red and yellow.

Also, I *LOVE* the time capsule idea for the birthday party. I did something similar - but, we had our families and special friends sign Paul's baby book...I wanted to have something for him to remember who helped celebrate his first birthday. And I am adding all his b-day cards to his time capsule.
