UPDATED!!! Planning FH's 30th!!! I think i figured it out!

So Fh is turning the big 3-0 in the end of Sept. I decided with a bunch of his friends, to throw him a surprise bday at M2 ultra lounge in NYC (FH was a crobar boy, so what better way to kiss your 20's goodbye than at the place where you spent most of it).

I need some ideas.

1) Should I do an informal invite explaining to everyone what the plan is? Text messaging only gets me so far and I do not have face book.

2)Should I just round everybody up and put them on a party bus and go as a group instead? This may throw him off a bit... His been snooping I think in my phone and silly me doesn't erase texts. He totally knows somethings up.

3) Its ok for me to tell everyone to throw down on bottle right? I mean I am not rockefeller... and I have wedding to pay for...

Ok, so I spoke to my bff, and she and I agreed that the limo thing PLUS M2 is way too much. So instead, we worked it out like this:

The day of FH's party, I will take him to a steak house on the island, maybe Sagamore or something at 7/7:30 PM. She will get everyone organized in front of his house with banners and all the embarassing stuff at 9 PM. Than after we finish dinner, I will tell FH that I have to go to the bathroom and that we need to stop home before we go out. And tada, SURPRISE, 30+ people on your front lawn. Than from there, we will all take the train to M2, sit VIP and it will only cost everyone $50- $100! I hope this works! What do you think?

i think its a great idea to do the party bus! But from what i've seen, the prices can get alittle up there so i dont know what ur budget is for his bday.
And its perfectly fine to ask everyone to chip in for a bottle...If you dont do the party bus then you can buy your FH a bottle of his fav liquor and then everyone else can either buy their own or throw down for a bottle.

My limo company charges this:

30 passenger: $175 an hour
40 passenger: $200 an hour
Min of 6 hours. The deal is they will give me an hour free but I have include 20% grat. Yikes.

I mean if i do that than these people better throw down on bottles for sure.

Any one know any other companies that maybe cheaper???

And yes, its fine it you mention that donation towards the bottles are welcome!

when i planned fh 30th party last year i used evite.com

are you getting a vip/table?
usually they do that when you buy bottles but they need a credit card. plus everyone will get in for free
just be sure to tell whoever you plan on inviting that they will need to chip in and how much

why not do evite's?

you asking people to chip in is totally fine!!!

I would also call the limo company you are using for the wedding they might hook you up since you are booking them for a few events

I think this is a GREAT idea and he will be so surprised.....I think that everyone will actually be willing and understanding that they have to contribute - otherwise, they are clearly not aware of how much a wedding costs!!
