I just found out yesterday that one of my best friends was murdered last thursday night!!!! We talk on the phone all of the time once or twice a week . I just talked to her last monday !!! She could NOT WAIT till my wedding. She lived in the Bronx and it was not very easy for us to see each other alot. She was a single mom and worked alot and it was not easy for her to get here when she was off and it was hard for me to get there because when i was off she was working. Our schedules never seemed to connect. I only found out yesterday..AFTER her funeral was over!!!! I DO NOT watch the news and it wasn't in the papers here!!! What kind of friend am I that I didn't even know this was going on????? I cannot believe she is gone!!! Here is the Story....

Single Mother Murdered In Bronx Apartment

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK A single-mother was shot dead Thursday evening by a woman who tried to con her way into the apartment.

Killed was Angelica Grullon, 25, who lived at 2585 Grand Concourse in the Fordham section of the Bronx. She had been in her 4th floor apartrment with her one-year-old son Jeremiah Grullon, and and adult female friend.

Angelica Grullon, who worked as a medical assistant, had just come home, say family members, when there was a knock at her apartment door. Her brother, Luis Cardona said when his sister answered the door, she found a woman asking for a man whom Angelica didn't know. Her brother said, 'Then she asks my sister if she can use the bathroom. My sister, who's a lady, figured, 'all right.''

After coming out of the bathroom, the woman came into the bedroom where Angelica was with her son, and pulled a gun, so Angelica ran from the room. The victim's brother said, 'She tried to save the baby, so the baby wouldn't get hurt; that's when (the woman) started shooting.'

As Angelica ran from the room she was hit in the neck, chest, and thigh, according to her breother. One bullet hole could be seen in the wall of the apartment, and three others just outside the apartment in a wall and ceiling of the hallway. The woman's friend and her son were not injured.

The victim's older sister, Sereda Cardona, said amid tears, 'She tried to save her baby and she was shot.'

The family says the armed woman aparently wanted to rob the place. She left by livery cab. Police could not offer a description of the assailant.

Angelica's sister said, 'She has no enemies. I don't understand.'

As the crying family walked to a funeral home on the other side of the Grand Concourse to make funeral arangements, they wondered why did Angelica have to answer the door?
