Updated:menstraul cramps....??Please tell me this is something and getting me somewhere!!!

Hi again. Sorry for so many questions!!
I've been having cramps that feel like I can get my period any minute on and off since about 6pm. I don't think it's contractions(not that I'd know!) There is no regularity to them, but I'm wondering if it means anything that I should be concerned about.

How far along are you?

Actually, the night I went into labor I had menstrual feeling cramps... nothing I thought too much about, and then when I went to bed, I woke up in the middle of the night, and got them again, and it hurt a bit more, and then just got more intense.

You never know! It could be labor coming on!

Would that be a good or bad thing?

When I went into pre-term labor, the contractions felt exactly like menstrual cramps - not at all like I thought they would feel!

Will someone please tell me that this could be early labor before I shoot myself!!!
It's getting worse! I've been up since about 6am every hour feeling terrible with cramps down there and in my back and I want to know that something is happening!!
I go today to the Dr and I'm counting down the hours!!! He has to tell me something, right?
Last week I was 1 cm....I pray to God this is some sort of progression!

that sounds like TammyJill's expereience and she was in labor and had the baby!!

Did you call the doctor??? I would call him immediately and tell him what is going on. Sounds like labor to me. You can tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and the real thing. Please call your doctor's office!

Hi ladies,
I just got back from the dr and he said all is normal. I am 2 cm but his head is not engaged yet!! I lost it and actually broke down into tears! He said don't worry, we still have 3 weeks to go, and I told him how exhausted I was and how these cramps are terrible. He said it's a good thing b/c it shows that I'm progressing and things are happening. He said he'll see me next Thurs. and if nothing happens by then, we'll talk about going in early, like a week-10 days early for an induction. He doesn't want him to get too big for me. He also said if I'm in pain over the weekend, he'll see me Monday. I was disappointed and embarassed that I actually broke down in front of him! He said it's normal and it's all due to hormones...lucky me.
Anyway, that's my update!

Don't take everything they say as gospel!
My Mom went to the Dr. when she was pregnant w/ me, and they told her she was fine & they'd see her in 2 weeks. That night, she went into labor and I was born the next day, 2 weeks early.
I think Felicia, Fletch, had the same thing, she was 2cm's... but then, her water broke and she had lil' Kate 3 weeks early!!!!!! So, take it slow and day by day, but have your hospital bag ready

I hope you are feeling better. I would like to warn you though...induction may be something you want to seriously research prior to agreeing to or asking for it. Women who are induced have a much higher c/s rate. Induction does not allow your body to labor naturally and normally. Also women who are induced have a higher rate of needing an epidural, and epidurals are known causes for stalled labor as well as a higher c/s rate. Induction may actually seem like a good way 'out' but in the end it could bring you a)a MUCH harder and longer labor b) a higher rate of c/s. Just something to think about.

Dont worry. I know how frustrated you are feeling.

I started having mentral like pains but they were not too bad..bearable around my 37th week and our baby wasnt as active as usual and I was getting scared. So I went to the doc and they hooked me up on the monitor. I got huge contractions that I wasnt feeling but showing on the monitor. SO they sent me home and said all was well. In the parking lot I got the same menstral like cramps and disregarded it. Would you beleive that a few hrs later I lost my plug. Called my doc..he said dont worry..some patients lose their plug but it can still take days. As the day progressed the cramping started getting worse and long story short I delivered in the am. So Docs dont always know..only baby knows when its time. Mommy and doc can speculate. Each expereince is different...BUt when it comes time for those baby delivering ocntractions...You WILL KNOW. So take it easy. rent some movies, go for a short walk, just relax and keep us posted.
