UPDATED!!!!!!Problem with gown....

So I just called Princess Bridals and told them I saw a Jasmine dress on line that was EXACTLY the same as the Fermin dress they told me I ordered. The owner, a nasty old woman, was like, 'Well what do you want me to do about it? I dont understand what you want from me?' I told her I want you to #1 make sure you ordered me the correct dress and #2 I don't want to be paying for a Fermin dress (who is a private designer) if the dress is a Jasmine, there could be a significant cost different. She said she will look into it and get back to me.

My DOC sent me a link to a website for a bridal salon in Kansas that sells Fermin dresses. She did not have the correct phone number #, so I searched alittle more on the internet. I found a salon in Illinois that deals with him directly and they were able to give me the correct #. I called them and left a message just waiting for them to get back to me now. I want to know if Fermin even distributes to this store.

I will keep you all up to date.

So here's the story incase you didnt read my last post.

I bought my dress from Princess Bridals in Farmingdale (which I regret) and when I bought the dress there were no labels in it b/c they rip them out, but I didnt see this dress anywhere else so I ordered it. They told me they would call me when they found out the designer, but they never did. Finally I called them and they returned my call and told me it was by a private designer Fermin or something like that.

Well, I didn't believe them....especially when I came across a dress on this site that someone posted. I just compared the picture of the dress in the pics below (which is a Jasmine) and the picture I took of my dress from the salon (which they told me was a Fermin) and it is the same EXACT dress.

So, either princess bridals lied to charge me the $1800 fr the dress, stating that it is a private designer, or they screwed up and I am hoping they didnt order me the wrong dress. And I don't think they ordered me the wrong dress b/c when I went in to look at my dress again, they showed me the correct one.

What do you guys think I should do????

i think that you need to go down there with a picture of the dress that was posted on here and get the truth out of them!! First off... wripping the tags out is a little strange.

I'd definitely go down there and demand answers! You shouldn't be treated like this. The girl who posted her dress... what was the price of that dress? Is it the same as yours or a lot more?

She didn't give the price. That is what I am wondering.

This is the dress that I was going to get.

It is priced in Bridal Suite Of Centereach at 1299.00 plus tax and I was getting it from Gownfind for 840 with tax.

You should definitely say something did they order your dress yet?? When did you put the deposit down was it credit card? You can try to call the credit card company and tell them they gave you false info and see if they will fight it for you.

It is a Jasmine what does your receipt say???

My receipt didn't say anything about the designer b/c when I ordered it, they said they didnt know. I didn't know it was illegal to rip the tags out of the dresses or that they were so shady. Unfortunately I joined LIW after I ordered my dress. They charged me almost $1800 for that dress. Now I am pissed.

A lot of salons do rip out the labels in dresses to prevent you from knowing the designer and style so you can't go somewhere else and get it (after spending time in their store trying things on).
Its such a shady thing to do..

wow - just saw the posts above..
I don't know if you're going to get anything back from them. They 'technically' didn't do anything wrong in their eyes and i don't know how you could get anything back from them if the dress has already been ordered and has come in.

good luck

I know it is illeagle to rip the tags off - I hated that some stors did that!!! But I'm surprised that even when you ordered it they didn't give you the designer name. That itself seems VERY weird!! From what I have seen and heard, they put their own numbers on the gowns then - they have to be able to keep track somehow, so they had to have known who it was by.
Good luck - I hope they aren't lying to you and that it is by the designer they have now told you, but you are right to be annoyed!!

Re: Problem with gown....

it's impossible that they didn't know the designer. how could they order it if they didn't know who to place the order with? best of luck

If you put money down, i would get a lawyer asap. Many of theses bridal stores will pull things like this. cutting not only price tags, but size tags too so your forced to get alterations.

i agree...they lied to you. how can they order a dress from a manufactuer without knowing the designer and style name/number? it's impossible! think about it...each dress is specific to it's designer and style #, and that is how a manufacturer identifies a dress.

they cheated you. i say you go there and let them know they are full of it. you should get your $$ back. if they refuse, take them to small claims court. they are shady and being shady with you.

What stores rip out tags and stuff? Should I watch out for any stores in particular?

Re: Problem with gown....

A lot of stores do rip out tags. It is not uncommon. A pain to us brides....... but they want to keep you there. As far as illegal.... I don't know about that.

I would recommend following this link LINK printing it out, and taking it to the salon and demanding to know who the manufacturer of the gown is. I would then tell them you already knew it was a Jasmine, and that they overcharged you and you want a credit, or you will see them in court, and you will be reporting them to the FTC.

I think you should go down there with the copy of the post with the same dress, also look for the price of the dress and go down there prepared.

Completly agree how do to you work in a dress store and not know the designer. Did you charge it because you can always cancel the charge and file a complaint against them. Thats what I would do

You have FM

Re: Problem with gown....

I think what they do is rip out the tags and keep track of the dresses another way. They don't want to tell you the designer b/c they dont want you to go to another store and get it cheaper.

I ordered my dress back in July and we put 1/2 down which is what they require. The credit card company isn't going to cancel the charge now.

My dress is scheduled to come in sometime in March. At that time would be a perfect time to raise any questions. If I do it now they may screw up my order and I will wind up without a dress, plus my BM's ordered their dresses there. I will look in to what options I have.
