I'm getting 2 photographers, a decent package including high resolution CD so that I can make whatever I want in addition to the package (shutterfly.com is always emailing me offers on enlargements and such so that's where I'll get the 8x10s and the BP photos). AND...
I'm getting my unedited ceremony video. I also will be the rightful owner of the photos so that solves that issue.
ORIGINAL POST: This has to be my millionth posting about this topic, but now I'm asking a slightly different question. I have seen Proline and Patken. I'm going to ADA this weekend. Monday I have an appointment with Jovan. Since I tell everyone that says hi how is your planning going that I'm stressing over this one area of my planning... I'm getting a million different referrals - none are the same - no 2 people mentioned the same photographer. Actually except Jovan, but I'm terrified that they are expensive b/c the 2 people are both well off. Here is my list... All were suggested to me:
Lavendar Pro-line Patken ADA Jovan Cassarino Mancuso Angelica Glass DejaVu Right Angle Rennesance (sp?)
Here's my problem - I work 2 jobs... I can't visit every single one of these. Pro-line was reasonable (I guess) and recommended by one of my BMs. Patken is almost off the list, they were too expensive for what they offer. ADA did my sister's wedding but I also haven't sat down with them yet. To save me some time, FM me if you have to, tell me who is just not worth the price. Again, I have a feeling that like Patken - Jovan is going to cost $4k for an album of 3 pictures - that's an exaggeration, but it's close. I do want raw video of the ceremony too, but most of the photographers will do that (except Patken). I just want to know who not to waste my time with since I can't spend more than $3500 on photography (not including the raw video of the ceremony). HELP! I want this behind me already!!

Yes. Angelica Glass is pricey and starts at like $3500 minimum.

So Angelica's off the list. Any other's that I can remove right away... don't forget it's not just price, but quality and service too.
What about the ever popular (in my circle anyway with a whopping 2 suggetors), Jovan?

Re: The low down on photography
Im using Jovon.. telmo is my photographer ..i found him mainly just by waiting and asking around and his name was mentioned to me a few times..my suggestion is is if you go with Jovon I would really try to only work with Telmo or Jovon.

Re: The low down on photography
But are they expensive... more than $3500 for pictures - normal size album, not 25 photos like Patken...

DEF try Millimeter, Michael is great and they are very reasonably priced.
I have heard horror stories abour Patken in Huntington and Jovon (both from great friends)
I was in a wedding party in April - the bride chose JOVAN ... and let me tell you it was the worst experience ever. I have never been treated so badly ... the photographer was so incredibly rude (Im just being honest). My friend wished she would have met with her photographer before she booked with them so please - whoever you book with - meet them first and make sure you have a good feeling. The bride must have told the photographer a million times HER parents were divorced and the photographer kept calling them HUSBAND AND WIFE and please kiss your wife. The parents of the bride were so upset and thats just the least of it.
As for the pictures, my friend paid a fortune for her album and it was nice don't get me wrong but it had few pictures and was not OVERLY AMAZING by any means. She was happy but after spending a fortune she wasnt thrilled and had a lot of regrets.

Re: The low down on photography
What about Lavendar Studios? They are on my preferred vendor list I think...
I heard that 12th night doesn't do albums you have to design them yourself? Not sure if that's true... I can't do that... I mean, I'm not capable of doing that and doing it right.
I will look into Velvet.

12th night = A+++++
They were amazing and a lot cheaper than other photographers. I made my own album in an hour on shutterfly for $86 (pics on LIW)
Also I got over 1,000 proofs on CD that I could print out myself, email whatever. I also got a very long slide show with music.

Re: The low down on photography
I can't do a DIY album, I really have no ability to do these things...
My father wants the library style album where the pics are the page not on the page. I can't imagine doing that myself and leather binding it too. I cannot imagine doing that, but I want my parent's to like their album, so for now I have to pass on the DIY. Thank you though

Re: The low down on photography
12th night does albums. They are not included in their photo packages, but you can order whatever you want and they do it. I'm not too sure about the pricing.
I would rec. my photographer (Golden Moments Dan Saviano) but I am not getting parent albums so I'm not sure what the pricing for parent albums are...sorry.

I went with Velvet too. My package is different but we went all out as well. Other places you kinda could get stuck with things you don't want but at Velvet I got exactly what I wanted at a much lower price and I love his work!
