Hello Everyone! FH and I were looking to possibly do some upgrades. I think we really want to go with a Mashed Potato Bar and a chocolate fountain. Any idea what these run p/p? And what are your thoughts on these? I've heard some people say that it's just a waste of money and that no one will even notice if they're not there. I'm budget conscious but feel that they will really enhance the wedding. Thoughts? Thanks

def depends on your RH. You can also haggle. I;ve heard of girls getting $40 pp of upgrades for like $10 pp

our hall threw in both the mashed potato martinis at CH and the Chocolate Fountain because were having a VH. If we had to pay for them it would be $3 more per person for the potatoes and i think a few hundred (i wanna say $250 buut i cant remember for sure) for the chocolate fountain
i know people say 'it doesnt matter no one remembers that stuff anyway' or things like that and trust me almost everyone said that to me but i remember all the little extras at every wedding i go to, in my opinion they really make a difference but again thats just my humble opinion

It depends on your RH. We actually won the Mashed Potato bar at a showcase and they threw in the Chocolate Fountain for us for nothing!
If I remember correctly, the MP Bar was $250-$300 and the Chocolate Fountain was $1000.

We had a lot of extras thrown in at our final meeting. It couldn't hurt to ask for a lower rate or free upgrades (especially if you're above and beyond your minimum.)
If I remember correctly the mashed potatoes were $3 pp and the chocolate fountain was between $500 and $1,000.
ps- I don't think I would ever forget mashed potatoes.

Our RH had a Mashed Potato bar as part of the CH and they threw in the VH for free and the chocolate fountain was part of that.
I'd definitely ask for free upgrades. See where they can compromise with you. You're paying a lot of money and you have high expectations - if they do right by you, you'll tell many people, as we all do here, and those recommendations go far if they do something special for you.

Our RH charges $8pp for a chocolate fountain. I was able to get the price down to $5pp. I really wanted the fountain and it was something that I thought would be a good upgrade for FH and I.

They wanted $10pp for the chocolate fountain but I got it down to $5 and I added the cocktail stuff which they wanted $15pp and I got it for $7. I got upgraded from salmon/snapper/scallops to Chilean Sea Bass (which I wanted and the price is obscene right now).
We are not having a VH or it may have been included

my mashed potato bar is included in my price pp... The chocolate fountain is like $5 - $7 pp HTH!
ETA: IMO I think a chocolate fountain is a waste of money. I wouldn't pay extra for that...

Definitely see what you can get thrown in! My package included the mashed potato bar and then when we were negotiating the final price our catering manager gave us a chocolate fountain for free. Otherwise, the fountain would have been I think they said $500

Every wedding that had a mashed potato bar it was a HUGE hit. I think it is so worth the extra money. I don;t know how much it is because my RH doesn't have it.

we were able to talk down the price on our venetian hour from 15 to 10 and they are including the chocolate fountain! if we didn't ask we would have never gotten it!
