Uplighting

Uplighting

My wedding is in August 5-6 cocktail 6-10 (probably 11 because I think I'm going to add VH).

Do you think it's worth it to have uplighting at CLM in the main ballroom downstairs?? It's going to be light until like 830, so it will only have the full effect for 2 hours.

How did it look in the day at TWOTY??

The house vendor is offering free, but I just don't know if it's worth it to pay for them. Thoughts??

Re: Uplighting

you noticed it at night...which was a nice surprise

but if its a lot of $$, i dont know if its worth it...by the time you notice the uplighting, everyone should already be having a good time , so it may go unnoticed by many of the guests

i dont think it would be worth it for a day wedding... in fact even when it got dark i wasnt a fan of uplighting... especially since our table was right next to the wall so the lights were constantly in my face

Good point!! hmmm I think it looks so pretty all purple or blue. Don't knowwww what to do. House vendor is FREE. Free is nice, but I'm worried about the lack of reviews about Unlimited Entertainment.

Re: Uplighting

During the day at TWOTY it was on and I personally thought it looked a little silly, because if you looked hard enough you could tell they were on, but obviously in the daylight you couldn't see the effects. I do however, think it will really make your reception look stunning and different if you have them set up all the uplights, and then have them turn on little by little as the sun sets and it gets darker. They can do this easily with the right kinetic uplights. Basically by 8-9 when the sun starts to set the uplights would start to glow and come on. By the time it was dark the whole ballroom would be lit up, overlooking the water of course. If it's in your budget to do this, I would do it for sure. Uplighting made a HUGE difference at my wedding, and at all the ones I've seen. Good luck!!

hmm I'll ask if they will do that (the free house one). I don't know if it's worth paying 500+ for 2 hours. I really love the effect of uplighting. In winter it would be fine, since it's dark at 6. Damn summer!!! hahaha Thanks for the tip!

Luckily you have plenty of time to think about adding it on! I know people that added uplighting the week of their wedding. It also gives you time to save for it! $500 IS a lot for just a couple of hours, but I think you and your guests will be blown away by the transitional uplights. I don't think they will have ever seen anything like that before. Good luck!! FM me if you have more questions!!

Re: Uplighting

I am going to say totally worth it for those two hours. It completely changed the room. Shot from TWOTY:

And TWOTY from last year and the time frame was the same.

My wedding at CLM is from 7-11 in September so it will be dark...I'm only having uplighting in the circular part of the room, not the back by the tables. Too many mirrors and things back there. I'm only having 8 lights for the circular part.

Ohh good point! The mirrors in the back. Do you know how many the room needs? Someone told me 6 for just the circular part, but then someone told me more than that!

Jackie - the DJ we met with last week sketched out the room and said 6 in the round part and 6 in the back (if you choose) I am sure you could do more though!
