It depends on your venue and how bright the room is. I asked about that a while back (link -- has helpful pictures). My RH has big windows that let in lots of sunshine, which is part of the reason we picked the place. For us, it doesn't make sense... the uplighting would get washed out. One of the LIW vendors even FM'd me to say not to waste my money. But if your room doesn't have lots of natural light, or if the windows could be covered, it could be an option for you.

THIS... then again we are hall twin, lol

our wedding is during the day and we are having uplighting. The shades will be drawn!

Im not doing it because the windows overlook the water!

We were in the Garden Terrace and were able to draw the blackout shades to keep the sun out.

Honest DJ companies will tell you that if there is natural light pouring into your room, it's a waste of money to do uplighting (or any fancy DJ lights).

I'm in the garden terrace room and it'll be light out all day. I don't want to waste the money if its not needed. I was thinking of doing it to add color to the room but I was going to keep the shades open.

Can you just add color with brig flowers instead of paying for lighting?

The room is 80% side-by-side windows, so I definitely wouldn't invest in the uplighting. I agree that flowers will add color for you - also consider something creative with the linens...that could make a huge impact on the look of the room.

Thanks ladies. I needed the justification to not get the uplighting. I'll definitely ask my florist if I can add flowers to the walls.

@ jilliebean: I totally forgot about the linens!!!
