Uplighting - what's the deal?

Uplighting - what's the deal?

I've actually never been to a wedding with uplighting, but it seems like everyone is doing it. I don't really like, for example, disco lights at my wedding, or wacky gobos with our names or anything like that. I don't want to make my wedding like a club environment. Is EVERYONE doing uplighting now? What are the pros/cons? How much does it cost?

Will I look like a loser if I don't have it?

Does anyone have any pics of the Inn @NHP with uplighting?

Im getting married at the inn and will have uplighting but I havent seen any pictures of what it would look like so I would love to see them as well.

I know most DJs and Florist provide uplighting and the inn also does it (they charge $500).

I personally like the uplighting because it gives my reception room a nice ambiance. I definitely don't think it gives off a club vibe unless you're using multiple colors. If you have windows in your room and have a day wedding, then it's really not necessary.
