Upset

Our laptop is old and it crashed tonight! It had all of our photos on it including pics from my showers and hair trials plus pics of FH and I from the past years And all of our music and play lists for the wedding after party.
We don't think we can recover it

The SAME THING happened to me today!! I was contemplating posting about it too because I'm so mad/upset that so much stuff was lost. I am in the process right now of recreating my wedding guest list and budget breakdown, which I will almost certainly forget to include parts of!! I am afraid we lost some pictures of us, our dogs, holidays, etc... we went to a store in the city that works with Mac computers (which mine is) and they said its $800 to retrieve the lost data but they're not even sure they would be able to find anything. I feel your pain

that happen to me a year or two ago, the best advice is for you to always back up your stuff, keep everything on disks or on a mini hard drive

Every time I hear this I think 'I'm going to buy an external hard drive to back up my comp' and NEVER do...

Thanks I know we should have backed everything up but we didn't we kept putting it off. Guess we learned our lesson. We put off buying a new lap top because of the wedding. Just sad we lost all of our pictures. FH's friend who works with computers is going to try to restore it but it does not look good

If you can recover it - go buy an external hard drive that backs up your system anytime you put something new on it & it plugs in via USB port. DH did this to his comp & THANK GOD he did b/c all of his banking info, online passwords for paying bills online,all of our pics from the 6 years we've been together, all our wedding info & email correspondence from vendors was all saved & his comp had totally crashed...TWICE ...b/c of issues w/ a bad video card & a bad sound card...UGH! I feel your pain - but see what they can do to recover any info on the laptop - then go buy the external HD - it will save you money & heart failure in the long run! HTH

Thanks luckly all wedding stuff was on the other computer (addresses, lists, budget). But all of the music and our photos for the last 5 years were on there. I hope we can recover the photos. And I am going to back up our other computer to avoid this.

Sorry ladies! This happened to me once and I SWEAR by these hard drives. I also e-mail everything to myself and upload all my photos to photobucket.com so I'm like triple backed up.

Does the MacBook require a special backup or will any external hard drive work?
Can you tell how computer savvy I am?!?
