I am so upset! I went to a friend's wedding, who hired the same band I did, and we HATED them! Not just disliked it, but hated it! We hated the music they played, but that thought thats just what the bride/groom chose. I just found out that they didn't choose that music at all, in fact, he didn't play almost any of the songs they chose!!!!!
I just don't want to use them! But, I will forsure loose my deposit. Does any one know of great DJs - we are already so over budget that we can't afford another band. How much do DJs go for?

I think we're going to sign Big Hits Entertainment as our DJ. They're really good and very professional. They have over 15K songs cataloged and plan to have over 20K by our wedding (which means definitely by your wedding). Personally, I much prefer a DJ to a band at a wedding (although I know I'm in the minority on this one). FM if you want details.

you have to call Vinny from High Voltage... I was in the same situation where I didn't like my original DJ...then I met w/ Vinny and decided to book him... I have only heard great things about him...and his prices are unbeatable...

Thanks for the band info and book the DJ! Is there a clause in your contract that if they book another date you get your deposit back? You could just come clean with them, tell them you saw them at a different wedding and that they were not as promised. Its worth a shot to get the money back.

I definately don't have the 'money back' clause I looked over the contract 50 times last night.
The only thing I can think of is adding to the contract that they must play 10 songs that I choose, and than, last our play mp3s.
What do you guys think?

Which Russian band was it? I am familiar with quite a few...
Could it be that the reason for you hating the band was the fact that they were trying to work things for that particular wedding? Were the bride and groom happy with that band? Were the people dancing and having fun?

Be extremely specific of what you want them to pay. Tell them you saw them and were dissapointed.

There is plenty of time for them to re-book, so it is in their best interest to return your $$ rather than get BAD PUBLICITY from someone --- you -- who isn;t happy with their 'product'. No $$ is worth as much as a reputation....
