Upset about leaving my job....

Upset about leaving my job....

Well, there is a very good possibility that I will be getting a new job, but I am so torn!

While I really can't take my job anymore, the thought of leaving is so depressing.....

I have come to know the people in my small office as family, they came to my wedding upstate and we are all so close. I feel bad leaving, but there is no longer much opportunity here for me and I am bored to tears. Mostly I just sit at my desk and think about how much I would rather just do something else. This job is sucking the life out of me!!!

But I can't help but think how much I will miss everyone and that makes me even more sad!

It is a tough situation, but you have to do what is best for you.
Have you spoken to your supervisor? Can you explain that while you really like the people and the environment, you are bored with your role.? Maybe they can change some parts of your job around?

If not then you will have to probably find another place, just make sure you get the same good feeling from the new place as you do from your current job.

Good luck.

Re: Upset about leaving my job....

I know exactly how you feel. In December I made a tough decision to leave my job of 7 years to go back to school full time. My husband and I want to start a family and we cannot do that with me working all day and going to school all night and on weekends. I needed to finish school so I can start my new career, but the thought of leaving was heartbreaking. This place had been my home away from home, my coworkers had become a second family. I tried to talk my husband into waiting until September leave, but as he put it that was another 9 months of putting our family off to work in a place I was planning on leaving anyway. He was right, I gave my 4 weeks notice (I was the office manager and needed that much time to train) and was miserable the whole time. I didn't want to leave, but then I realized I was leaving the company, not the people. It has been over a month since I left, I still talk to my friends every day and meet them on Fridays for lunch. You don't have to loose your friends to better your future. I have been so happy since I quit my job! I've had more time for my husband and for myself and I'm working towards our future. If there is no where for you to go where you are get out.

HTH,
Kelly

Thanks Kelly, I just feel like my reason for leaving will hurt their feelings. Maybe I'll just say I'm preggo!!!! JK!
