Upset with my wedding gown - thinking of getting another one

just got home from picking up my gown..I didnt even try it on the store but just picked it up, hauled that big white thing into the back seat of my car, and tried it on the home..

i just want to cry,,I asked the lady to order a size bigger (it was a 16 in the store, I ordered an 18W) and now it doesnt fit..I must have put on weight since the time I tried on the dress..and now its tight around the upper sleeves and I just hate how it looks...I dont know what to do..I feel like going out and just buying another dress..

I'd cut the sleeves off and buy a bolero.... can u afford a new dress??

you probably should have tried it on in the store so they could see it didn't fit you.

i'm sorry you're feeling that way. would you feel the same way if it fit or do you just hate your dress altogether?

i dont know...the dress is loosing its 'wow' factor on me...I am doubting whether its really 'THE' dress now..I talked to my mom and all she did was yell at me 'see! you know you are a fat cow and now you really have to lose weight!!! get on that diet NOW!',...

I dont think Davids Bridals can take it back - I paid for it already and now I am stuck with it...It was stressful just finding this gown in the first place (face it, plus size gowns for samples are not easy to find!)...and now I just want to cancel my wedding because the last thing I want to be is a damn fat bride..I cant even MOVE in the dress, how on earth can I even DANCE IN IT!!!!!???????

I would go back to the store and try it on - maybe they can let it out a bit .

Hey honey! First of all take a deep breath, it's going to be okay and you have a lot of time. I would say a few things, first identify if you really don't like the dress anymore or if you're just not happy with you right now, once you decide, if you really feel like you don't like the dress, you can ALWAYS sell it and start the process again, you can also get it altered to be more flattering and the last thing is just try to lose the weight you put on. Trust me I went from a size 8 to a 14 so I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND the pain, HTH!!!!

RE: your mom, I've been there too, don't focus on that energy, it'll make you eat more (at least it does me) focus on all the love on the boards and the wonderful man that thinks you're worth marrying whether you're a 16 or an 18!!!

Breathe! You still have time. If you are serious about losing weight you still have time. If you didnt do anything to the dress I would call David's Bridal explain the situation and see if they will let you exchange the dress for another one you love.

you have a ton of time to find something else... I wouldn't limit yourself to dresses with sleeves.

here is a pic from my album...i cant cut off the sleeves...the dress is ALL beaded lace on the top.

the only reason I am looking at gowns with sleeves is because my upper arms are flabby and fat and theres no way I look good in a sleeveless dress (I dont even wear tank tops in public because of it..I think its looks awful to show off fatty arms like that)...

Oh no! You fell in love with the dress for a reason and it is the holiday season so everyone puts on some weight at this time of year. Dont be so hard on yourself.

Put the dress aside and try it on after the new year. If you really dont like it then take it to a seamstress and see what they can do. If you still hate it you can always sell it on preownedweddingdresses.com or oncewed.com.

Dont worry-you will look beautiful on your wedding day.

thanks,,,I need time off from the gown thing..I keep doubting whether I want to wear that dress but now I am only 10 months away from my day..If i get another dress, I have to act soon to find one...I am just tired of this. I wish we would elope to Vegas instead!!
im putting it in the closet and going on a diet pronto..time for Atkins...and then will re-evaluate in a month..

Please dont put yourself down because of weight...we're all beautiful, you have lots of time to 'diet' or 'get in shape' for your wedding but dont do it because someone else thinks you should. You will be a beautiful bride at any size

I agree with the girls about calling Davids Bridal...maybe they can suggest something or you can always sell this dress and buy another one. I've seen a few brides on here who have decided to sell their dresses to get another one...

don't worry chica, you will be able to lose weight (only one dress size actually) if that is what you choose to do. remember that your fh loves you just the way you are. you don't have to completely change yourself just for this one day. don't be discouraged, think about how fun your wedding is going to be!
