Upset.....so annoyed with FH!!!

Soooooooo when we came out with 'our wedding list' he didnt want to invite some of his friends. I even asked him 'Arent you going to invite____?' and he would say 'Nah' Nowwwwwwww after inviting 186 people, he has now decided that he wants to invite those friends that he didnt invite. He has just invited 22 people on top of our 186!!!!!! Our minimum is 140 and our room fits 180 (which makes my FH look small and all table are like on top of each other). Idealy, I wanted 140 to show up.... now, we might have to add on more centerpieces and that means paying MORE MONEY to the RH!!!!!!!! I am so upset with him, bc if he invited these people from the beginning- I would have invited less people from work.

I am sooooooooo angry... we dont have more money to be throwing around

I have a feeling that FH will do this as the wedding gets closer.

Men!! FH has not added ppl and I made it clear we are at 140 and we dont want anymore!! We guaranteed 100 to the RH and don't want to pay extra for anything.. We are stretching enough is 130 attend...

Re: Upset.....so annoyed with FH!!!

Update: So as a way to calm me down... FH says 'Not everyone will be allowed to bring a date.... if they are not in a relationship, they should go solo... this is our wedding and if they dont like it... they dont have to come'

What do you ladies think? I think its tacky... BUT true at the same time- Id rather them bring someone they are serious with than bring just 'a friend' who neither of us know who is just coming along to fill a seat that we dont need filled lol

If we are short- then yes.... if not, then they can come solo (this only applies to the extra people he is inviting...everyone else is allowed a guest for the most part- of course there are exceptions... people who I know def. are not in relationships)

I don't think it is tacky. We made a rule that if you are not dating anybody at the time, then you are not being invited with a date. There wasn't too many people that this applied to but its your wedding and you can do whatever you want. I would just make the rule and make sure you stick with it because you might get questioned by people.

I don't think it's tacky. For the most part, all of our invites are married or in serious relationships. But if they are not, they are being invited solo. Sorry, but we are paying for this all on our own and people will just have to suck it up or don't come. Luckily though most of our guests will know others there so they shouldn't feel like they are there alone anyway.

I know I'm in the minority on this one, but I'm inviting everyone with a guest. I just know that when I've been invited to weddings in the past I prefer to be able to bring a guest. (But I do adjust my gift to reflect that the bride and groom had to pay for 2 dinners.) This is especially true if most people are in a relationship and there are only a few singles. I think that it makes people feel more comfortable.

That being said, I don't think it's tacky to invite people without a guest. I just think if there's any way you can, that it's nice for people to be able to bring someone if they want. Ultimately if space is becoming an issue and you and FH are okay with it, then I wouldn't worry about it. It's definitely NOT tacky.

I don't think it's tacky. I made a joke to my good friend that if he isn't in a serious relationship by the time of my wedding, he cannot bring a date. LOL! It was a joke only because we are having the opposite problem...we are having trouble meeting our minimum.
If you want to send some of your guests to my wedding, that's fine! ;)

I know the feeling FH added about 12 more people to the list and now wants to add a GM to the BP

Re: Upset.....so annoyed with FH!!!

I think this is common with FH. We've ordered our invites, went over the list, and now he's starting to say, should I invite this one? I think that men have different relationships and they aren't in touch and so they don't think they should invite them but then they talk to another friend and they start to think back to the times they had and if they got together with this friend it would feel as if no time had passed so they think they should invite them.

As for the no guests - it's your wedding, do what you want. I had one friend who only invited the guest if they were married (obviously), dating for x amount of time and had met them. If they didn't meet them or it was a new relationship then they didn't invite the guest. They also didn't invite people they hadn't been in touch with in x length of time. I've been invited to family members wedding where they haven't invited me with a guest and haven't even bothered to see if there should be an and guest. Sometimes it bothered me, sometimes it didn't. I also have friends who hate when they aren't given that option. Especially at a certain age, you feel like you should be given that privilege to not have to go alone to someone's wedding. Men are different though. I think inviting a man without a guest as opposed to a woman without a guest goes over differently.

Boy did I ramble...

Awww..I'm sorry. FH tried doing this too...but then I said we just couldn't do it. None the less some of the people he was trying to invite I'm not too fond of...I told him I don't want a million people there that I don't know...I mean it's MY wedding TOO! lol

You know and that is what FH keeps telling me too. He told me to stop worrying and that we might even have a problem getting our minimum bc with the economy is, some people cant afford it. Im getting married at JT too like you yayyy!!
Its like if you are over your minimum, you have to pay more (we have no extra money to be throwing around at this point) and if you are under, you are paying for empty seats
