Has anyone had a wedding upstate? Is it alot cheaper to have a wedding upstate as opposed to more locally? Anyone have any websites to research upstate weddings? Thanks ladies!!

Re: Upstate Weddings?
Try the Hudson Valley message board on the Knot. I also frequent that board since I'm getting married in Westchester and the girls are beyond helpful. Many of them are getting married in Northern Westchester and Putnam so they'd be helpful to advise.
I got engaged at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz... you should consider it for your wedding, it's beyond gorgeous up there.

My brother got married in Saratoga Springs last year and it was absolutely gorgeous. They have a few really nice places for weddings in Saratoga. He was married at The Prime at the Saratoga National. Pics in my album

my sister got married in Pougkeepsie and the place was really nice. She paid less than half of what I am paying for the RH.

I really liked Ehrhardt's on Lake Wallenpaupack. I went to a wedding there and it was really nice and the food was EXCELLENT. It was just what I was looking for, but we didn't think we could meet their minimum requirement. They have their prices on their website, along with some pictures.
I have a few pictures from my friends upstate wedding in my album.
She spent thousands less than I'm planning to for my wedding. Just less expensive up there. Hers was in the mountains not too far from the Hudson River.

Re: Upstate Weddings?
YES! Not only can it be cheaper, but you can get everything you want.
On Long Island, for my less than 50 person wedding I was out of luck...
In the Hudson Valley, I am able to rent an entire B&B with gardens for my ceremony, a ballroom for the reception and all the rooms in the house for my guests to stay over. There are no minimums and I am able to have to have my wedding on a Saturday night in the summer!
It certainly was not the cheapest option but a one event a day hall willing to accomodate our small party on a Saturday evening in the summer would NEVER have been possible for us on Long Island.
