Ureaplasma???

Has anyone ever heard of this. I just got a call from the maternal fetal specialist I am going to. They did a culture sample about two weeks ago. Well the ureaplasma came back positive. I freaked out. I thought it was an STD, which it is in a way...

But it's a bacterial infection that my DH and I now have to take antibiotics for. I did some online research and it says that it is a big factor in spontaneous abortions (early pregnancy loss) and reoccurant miscarriages, which is what I had.

So I am hoping it will be cleared up and that its the only reason for the miscarriages. Is anyone familiar with this??

I don't know for sure. But it did say that it is not necessarily gotten through sexual intercourse. They mentioned D&C's which I had... But I guess once you get it, you sexually transmit it to your partners, that is why it is called a sort of STD.

I think this what I read. I haven't had a million partners!!

Looks like you have the reason for the miscarriages so it's on to happy and healthy pregnancies! I'll keep my fingers crossed!
