Urinary Track Infection in Dogs????

Can dogs get UTI's???? Bella has been urinating alot more often than usual, and I'm concerned....

She doesn't have any other pain that I know of, and she still has a strong appetite...

Does anyone know what it could be... I'll be calling the vet in the morning also...

I think its a stage because Missy was doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago. She was peeping an awful lot in the house. and they were like a half hour apart. I think this stage of puppyhood is the worst. Its like they regress. But I would call the vet anyway just to be safe.

I called, and I have to get a urine sample to bring to them to check...

We'll see...

Yes! My Dog gets them all the time!! The Vet will give you an antibiotic. I also suggest buying cranberry pills at a drug store and giveing them to your dog. My dog was very sick for awhile and we were told by a friend (who is a breeder) to buy these and give them to the dog 2X a day wrapped in lunch meat. My dog suffered for 2 years with a UTI that we couldn't knock off. SInce the cranberry pills which was started a year ago, we have had no problems. Also when your dog is on the antibiotic you should buy some plain yogurt for him or her to keep there good bacteria going.

Oh and just a heads up the way they test for a UTI is by extracting urine through the stomach with a needle!! Best of Luck! If you need any help just let me know!!

Man I wish I heard about the cranberry thing, might have been helpful for my pooch! I have been battling UTI in him for so long on and off

My dog has one right now. She got it from the steroids she is on for her stroke. She was bleeding a little bit too. I feel so bad for her

Bella did have an UTI... I was able to obtain a sample the easy way ... Now Bella is on antibiotics, and is doing better. I didn't know if it was safe to give her the cranberry pills, or to giver her yogurt.... Are you sure I can do this??? My FH couldn't believ I picked up on the way she was peeing... He told me I was going to make a great mom .. I love her so much
