I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience using arline miles or points (like Starwood or Amex) to pay for a portion of the HM? Did you find it better to use it for airfare or hotels?
Also, I'm specifically wondering if there are any travel agents who will help you figure out how to use you cash and miles/points.
Thanks!

Re: Using Miles/Points for HM?
We are using Disney Dollars for our HM, for us it is really easy, just like actual cash - we are using it for entrance to the parks rather than lodging because my parents gave us use of their timeshare for the HM
I bet if you call a travel agent they would be able to give you advice

Re: Using Miles/Points for HM?
I usex Amex points for a vacation this past May. What you should use them on really depends on how many points you have. If you have enough points for the entire hotel and part of the flight, then use them towards the hotel for sure. I say this because, when you don't have enough points for the entirety of the tickets, applying points for a partial discount doesn't seem to get you as much. For example, something like 10,000 points only saved me $75 (that's a rough estimate) on my plane ticket. Also, in that instance, I had to front the money on my card and Amex later reimbursed me that $75. If I had just booked my hotel with it, it would have been a straight exchange of points for the hotel with no other charging involved.
I also have Bank of America World Points, and those don't work nearly as well as the regular Amex rewards. It's either all of nothing with WP - if you don't have enough points, you can't use them for partial payment of anything. I was closing that card anyway, so I didn't bother trying to bank enough points for somethign great. Instead, I cashed out 12,000 points for a $100 gift card and used it to buy my Vera Wang Love Knots cake knife/trowel and toasting flutes for the wedding!!
