Using your parents wedding song?

Using your parents wedding song?

Is anyone doing this? My parent's wedding song was 'Call me irresponsible' and if you know my dad this makes perfect sense. I fell on the floor laughing he told me this b/c it is so typical of him. My mother passed away when I was 15 so it is even more important to me to have memories of her around that day. So my question is this:

Should I use this song as our wedding song (my fiance is just like my dad - scary but oh so true) or should i use to dance with my dad?
Or is it not appropriate at all?

Thoughts?

I think that is a beautiful gesture and if it fits your relationship, it would be perfect!

I agree...I would have used my parents wedding song (which ironically is FI's parents wedding song as well) if it was a different song!! THEIR WEDDING SONG WAS THE THEME FROM THE GODFATHER!!!!

So do you think I should dance with my fiance to this song? or my dad?

He might like and feel as if you are honoring him

I think dancing with him to the father daughter dance though would be even better.
At my wedding we surprised my parents by playing their wedding song for them to dance to. So I am sure your dad would love it!

If it works for you, go for it! We considered using DH's parents wedding song but no one knew it!

I think it would be SOOOO SWEET to use the song to dance with your father!
IMO You and your fiance should have your own song!

I think it would mean more to your dad if he got to dance with you to that song. I would say definelty dance with your dad to that and pick a new song for you and your husband. Good luck, i think either way it will be a tear jerker.

As long as it fits your relationship do it, I think to dance with your dad it might be too upsetting for both of you.

I know exactly how you feel about wanting to include family memories in your wedding -- my mom passed away when I was ten and my dad passed away last year.

I think it is a great idea to use their wedding song. We may use my FI's parents and both sets of grandparents' song -- It had to be you.

Can you share other ways you are including your mom's memory in your wedding?

If you feel that's best to honor your dad and mom go do it!!

I actually thought of this too, and i shyed away from it cause their wedding song is their 1st moment together and I didn't want to take that moment away from them..

Gosh, just reading that gave me chills and almost made me cry when I thought of you dancing with your Dad to it.

We played my parents first dance song... 'love me forever or not at all' as a special dance with my parents, my inlaws and my husband and myself and it was one of the greatest moments of the entire reception.

Since your mom isn't around to dance with your dance I feel you should dance with him.

I would pick a special song for you and your fiancee that is different though..

I think using your parents wedding song is really nice! My mom passed away when I was 13...I am going to have my florist make the same bouquet for me that she had.
