UTI

UTI

I just got a call from my Dr. on my machine - I went in two days ago for those contractions, and they took a urine culturre. Turns out I have a urinary tract infection.

She said to call in the morning for a prescription..

I am worried! Is this dangerous to the baby? I wish there was something I could do now....

Many pregnant women get UTIs and there is very safe medications to treat the UTI- no problems with safety.

I got got over one myself.. they treated it with antibiotics that were safe for me to take

Jenny I asked about infections, they say the antibiotics are safe they prescribe to a prego. I always read & ask my dr. questions.

UTI are common during pregnancy. They are not dangerous to the baby as long as you take the Rx you are given. Otherwise they can lead to a kidney infection. Make sure to read the pamphlet that comes with Rx. There is one family of drugs for UTI that are unsafe for pregos. I am sure your dr. will give you the right one, but please double check with the pharmicist.

I had one in the beginning of my PG. They give you a 7 day prescription. I forgot the name of the medicine I took, but it was horrible! It made my mouth water really bad. I had to spit every few minutes. (Sorry TMI) I'll try to remember what the name of it was. There are a few kind you can take though...

Oooo .... I hate those in general, but to get one now, . I know that they are very common b/c your uterus is pressing down considerable on your bladder. I hope you feel better quickly.

I took ampicillin for a UTI that I had early in my pregnancy. I took it like 3 or 4x's a day... can't really remember. But I do remember that I had to take it on an empty stomach. It's only for a week, so it wasn't all that bad.

I hate all these medical issues that 'pop up' during this crazy time...
