UV Gel

UV Gel

So I want to get these done for the wedding, but should I do a trial run or just go for it the day before? I haven't had tips in years.

Any suggestions on where to go? Hoping to find someplace that has plenty of space for a 'spa' day with my girls the day before the wedding. Looking for mid-suffolk, Patchogue/Port Jeff and anywhere in between.

Relaxation Spa in Medford on N. Ocean Ave, its in the Kmart/Stop and Shop Shopping Center

O M G I love that place!

it's pretty inside with chandeliers and very clean

they have literally 20 pedi chairs and 20 mani chairs
and they have a full spa with massages, facials etc

I never have to wait more than 5-10 min there even on a sat or sun prime time

I get the UV gel all the time, they have tons of colors at this salon too

most important thing with the gel is to make sure they dont file down or buff your nail or use the electric filer bc that is what ruins your nails
I know a lot of people have said the UV ruined their nails, in my experience that only happed with the above

I'm going to get this done at my mom's nail saln in the Bronx. She told me to go get it done initially about 6 weeks before and then get them filled in the week of the wedding. I'll probably go get a fill in the day of the RD so they look nice.

Re: UV Gel

you can get uv gel without tips, if your nails are long enough.

i would get it done at least once before to make sure you like the 'look' and also so you can make sure that you like a specific salon.

I got UV gel last week and my nails were short so they did extentions. They were easy and didn't make them too long. There is a place in east meadow that just opened the last year that is huge!!!!! ill find the name- so nice its a new nail & spa place.. but for some reason i feel like you live out east more

I've had the UV polish that's supposed to last weeks....it barely lasted 3 days on me. But polish never even lasts a day. Do a trial run before your wedding, I'm glad I did because now I'm going to just get the UV french with extensions. I've done them before and I just can't have them because of work.

I LOVE going to Lori's nails in Ronkonkoma for the UV gel. However, I will be honest, they aren't the 'nicest' looking establishment for a group thing.

I would def recommend doing it once before the wedding...you just never know if you will like the quality of work and you don't want to risk it too close to the wedding...jmo!

Good luck....and if you find a great place let us know!!

I had the UV gel for 3years - since it first came out. I decided to go for natural after that time to save money - my nails couldn't hack it. They were thin and brittle - I had to go back to silk wraps b/c I was breaking them everyweek. I do love them - however = if you're only planning them for the wedding you should be ok.....I will do them again just for the wedding and honey moon and off they come!!!

That is very reasonable - I was paying 35/40 depending the fill in!

Re: UV Gel

You don't need a trial and they aren't tips. It's just gel nail polish that goes on over your natural nail. It lasts FOREVER!!

You could always get them done for your shower.
