UV Gel Nails aka Permanent French

UV Gel Nails aka Permanent French

I want to get my nails done sooooo bad. I used to get acrylic then I was getting silk wraps for a while. I stopped getting my nails done a while ago to save some $$, but I know that my shower is soon, and I want to start getting them done again.

I want to get the UV gel nails. I like the permanent french idea, although not as thick as I have seen it on some girls.

Anyone have suggestions on where to go? I live in Hicksville, but if it's worth it I will go pretty much wherever in Nassau County.

Also, about how much is it for a new set? I heard that you don't have to go for fill in's as much (my friend goes once a month, maybe a week longer then a month sometimes) Is that normal?

TIA girls for any recommendations ! ! !

I my UV gel nails.

My nails get a lot of abuse at work, and I've even SCRUBBED pans with brillo (bare handed - no gloves) and there isn't even a scratch on the surface of the nails!

I use a place in Oceanside, not sure if you want to travel that far .... there must be someone closer to you!

Once a month sounds right, that's about how often I get them redone.

I had them done a few months before the wedding, they looked great - I went to Canele in Commack.

I love Savvy Nails on Lynbrook... their prices are great. Not 100% sure how much a set of the UV gels cost. You may want to call. FM me if you want any info. They're on Ocean Ave (Right off Southern St).

Regular manicure is $7. I just got Silk wraps put on last night (first set) for $55.

What are UV nail gels????

They are just another type of extension. From what my friends tell me, they put this 'goop' on you and form it to a nail. You have to go under a special UV hand lamp for them to harden.

My friends tell me that they don't lift or crack where the fill and natural nail meet. I am hoping they are right !! That is one of the reasons I stopped doing acrylic and silk. They would ALWAYS lift underneath and crack at the line.

Anyone go anywhere a bit closer to Hicksville?? Maybe even New Hyde Park / Floral Park / Elmont?

I've been getting UV gels for awhile now. I came in wanting acrylic but the manager told me that UV gels were better for my nails so i got them. They don't chip or crack. If you get color on them the color lasts until you get a fill in 2-3 weeks later. Oh and if you get permanent french there's no drying involved. once they're done under the UV dryer you're ready to go. The only thing is that my nail salon charges about 90 dollars for them initally. Fill ins are 30. I think they are worth it!

I hope this helps

actually i have been an acrylic girl for years and then I went to permanent french and just recently switched to the UV gel nails and I LOVE them... the polish does last almost the two weeks... and they are more natural on the finger ~ when she does the fill you really cant see the line so if you wanted to just put a clear you could! I highly recommend them! I have been going to Spa @ East Wind... and I think I paid $45 or $55 for a full set and $30.00 for a fill....

East wind does not have the UV gel nail in the permanent french look as of yet... but I will be all over it when they do!
