Has anyone gotten these done? I'm not really into tips, so I'd like something else for my wedding day and even my engagement party. Do you recommend UV nails?

Re: UV Nails?
I had them for a while and I really liked them, but I had to get rid of them for work. When I took them off, my nails were as thin as paper and it took months of nail strengthener and cuticle oil to get them back. They are not really good for a few days. They become expensive to keep up with.

Re: UV Nails?
I love them...but there is an upkeep to it...I usually go every 2 weeks...sometimes I can go for 3 weeks...but I love the way they look and I always get complimented on them

It was about the same. I was told you can't soak them off, they had to be filed off. I pretty much pulled them off. I guess if you had them file them down they could leave a bit so it won't be just as bad, but I had to get rid of it completely. Can't even wear nailpolish to work.

I'm confused about this, I thought it was just like really hard nail polish that you have to soak off? I was all set to do this for my wedding but if it ruins your nails then I definitely won't! I have nice strong nails (people ask if they're fake all the time) and I really don't want to ruin them! I'm so disappointed to hear that they ruin your real nails

The place that I go to now has color gel. I think this is what you're talking about. It's different from the UV tips. My mom has them done and has to go every 3 weeks. A fill is $50, but they always look so nice. I've stuck to the silk wrap. My nails are weak to begin with. For those of you who have weak nails, I heard that you can go to the pet store and use the turtle shell hardener on them and it works wonders. It even says on it I heard that you can use it for nails.

All that stuff ruons your nails whether its acrylic, gel, or silk but I still do it anyway bc I love the way it looks too much. Plus it ruins the nails that its glued too but once your nails grow out they're fine again

Re: UV Nails?
I ****** it up and got UV gel nails about 2 months ago and love them. My own nails are terrible even after getting weekly manicure so I decided with the wedding coming up to get and get use to them. I also can't deal with my nails chipping the day of the wedding. I would freak if my nails chipped that morning..LOL! The plus to UV, no sitting under the dryers if you get permanent french.

Re: UV Nails?
I LOVE the look of UV nails....Especially since I always have french. But the only thing that's holding me back from switching is that UV is so much more expensive. So, a gel-powder girl I will stay!

'OPI' makes a gel nailpolish that just brushes on and it lasts about 2 weeks- no uv lights, wraps or glue. It does need to be soaked off, but your nails are fine after (unless you try to pick t off yourself!) Not many places have it, but a friend of mine gets in done in manhattan.
