Vacation Disaster
Hi Ladies!
I'm sorry I haven't been on for about a week FH and I went on a week's vacation that kinda ended up in a disaster for FH and I'm trying to just be there for him atm.
I am not going to name the timeshare resort but we went to a timeshare that is owned by FH's parents in the Pocanos (PA). We checked in and things were good the first night. Things were nice and the next morning FH tells me that he wanted to go fishing. I told him I'd meet him at the beach area (which is right next door to the lake area). About almost an hour after he left to go fishing I got a call that he was in a serious boating accident on the lake where he was fishing and that his rowboat got tipped over!
They called an ambulance and also sent a van to come and get me so that they can take me to where FH was. We went to the hospital (thank goodness he wasn't sent to the trauma center just a regular hospital) and FH ended up with back problems and whiplash.. not much they can do for him but bedrest and ice/heat packs
For the whole week we were there he was laid up with nothing he can do but bedrest. I didn't do much since I wanted to just make sure that he was taken care of. Good thing though is that his parents are about 40 minutes from where we were staying so they helped out immensely.
What really ticked me off is how the accident occured.
There are no speed restrictions on the lake that he was on.. a powerboat came too close to him and the wake from the boat knocked FH over into the water! A good samaritan actually was nearby and towed him in. Bad thing was is that nobody got a description of the boat or the license number for the powerboat that did it.. also FH had his back to the powerboat so he didn't even see the powerboat. We filed two reports, one with the resort (they sublease the boating concession to someone else), and the local police (who can't do much since we don't have the license number for the boat or even a description of the boat that caused the wake)
Fortunately torwards the end of our week away, FH's parents suggested that he see their doctor, which in turn referred him to a physical therapist... after 5 times seeing FH, FH was able to at least make the drive back to NY (I can't drive long distances).
FH is doing a bit better- I'd say he's about 70% recooperated but needs to go to see his doctors and his physical therapist. I am not sure if we are going to go back there after we are married. We won't be going next year because of the wedding, but then the following year is up in the air. I think though no fishing there for FH.
I'm just so happy to be home!!
