I think DH and I need to get away for a few days this winter lol...I'm getting a little stir crazy
Does anyone have suggestions for something that is within around four hours driving distance and is not ridiculously expensive? We're planning a pricey trip for the spring, so I'd like to keep costs down now if possible.
We aren't outdoorsy people...no skiing, snowboarding, skating, etc. We like religious and historical sites, breweries and wineries, and real haunted places. By that last one, I mean places like Salem...but we were just up there a few months ago, so I don't want to go again.

How about Philadelphia or Washington DC?

Re: Vacation help
Try the Sleepy Hollow area... there are a bunch of old Mansions/houses to tour (Washington Irving's house, the Rockefeller Mansion Kykuit, an old working Dutch farm) - the area is really pretty too...and the Cemetary is pretty cool to walk through. Its only about an hour and a half drive...
and About 2 1/2 hours away is Hyde Park... more mansions to tour up there as well as the Culinary Institute of America that has some amazing restaurants.
There are b&b's and inexpensive hotels in both areas..

I was also going to recommend Philly...
If you go to DC (LOVE IT THERE), I would recommend taking the train. It's not that expensive (figure between gas and tolls and parking if you drove) and in DC you really don't need a car, you can take the metro almost anywhere. We're going in Feb to a wedding and taking Amtrak...
