we happen to like Boston a lot...there's a TON of stuff to do!

You could do Boston and then maybe go to Vermont from there and do the whole, Ben & Jerry's, Vermont Teddy Bear and Magic Hat brewery thing. Dave & I did that a few years ago and had a BLAST!

maybe go to niagra falls... you could stay on the american side or the canadian side. i heard the canadian side is better- more shops and bars etc.

maybe florida for a long weekend, go to disney, sea world, universal studios, or just the beach there

virginia - virginia has williamsburg very nice to walk around see all the history and bush gardens is right there as well

I love Mystic, CT....there are a lot of great little restaurants and shops and the aquarium...plus it's 10 mins from Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun if you want to gamble a little

i LOVE niagara falls!!!!!!!! We go there every year for New Years!

If you are looking for a nice place to stay - FM me. It's on the canadian side - but it's 50% cheaper than everywhere else. It's 15 minutes from the falls and the rooms are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Hampshire's gorgeous. We really love Portsmouth but the lakes region is nice too - and it's only an hour north of Portsmouth so you could do both. And, it's close to Porland, Maine, which is a great little town. Mount Washington is about an hour and a half from Portsmouth, NH, so you can drive up that or hike it if you are adventurous. And there is a little town called Plymouth, NH, in the middle of the state, that's adorable.

How about cape cod ?? Orient Point ferry is 1 hour 15-20 minutes and the cape is a 2 1/2 hour drive from there - beautiful and you can get a reasonable rate if you look around. You could even take a ferry over to Marthas vineyard or nantucket from there.

Maine is adorable. The water IS freezing- we went in July and it was like ice. There are some adorable shops too.

Also another idea is Rhode Island: There's Newport RI which is SO nice- you can go on historical mansion tours, go to the beach, they have great restaurants...

There's also Block Island. You can take a ferry from Newport or you can even take a ferry there from Montauk. Block island is SO much fun- there are no cars, you ride bikes everywhere, and theres SO much to do. Really cute bed and breakfast hotels too.

LOL ya def dont go there then- it wont be different for you! I also agree that Portsmouth is nice! And it is super close to Maine- its 45 minutes from Portland. DH and I ate at a restaurant in Maine about 5 minutes from Portsmouth the other day and it was so beautiful! Overlooking the water and great food! I really do love it up there more so now that I dont live there. LOL

wehad 50% of our guests traveling anyway so we were looking in New England as well as in LI. We went with LI cus it was easier to plan and more affordable. I did love that place though- awesome view from the ballroom! But I didn't like the cocktail hour set up- it was in different small rooms- which was sort of cool, but we wanted a more open feel. We also wern't looking for a summer wedding where that would have been outside and a totally different feel to it.
