Vaccines (Gina!!)

I just called the Traveler's Medical Center to find out costs.

They said the visit itself $85. The shots are as follows:

hep A - $98
typhoid- $94
routine boosters (tetanus and mmr) - $78 each
malaria - they provide the prescription

Little did I know the immunizations would be close to another $1,000!!

Also- They said you only need rabies if you are there for more than 6 months.

Hope I'm not crashing, but I know when I traveled, I went through my regular doc and some of the costs were a little less.

wow thats an added expense you probablly didn't account for.

you are only at risk for Rabies if you are there for 6 months??? thats crazy that a 'health professional' would tell you that.

like i said earlier my nephew got rabies from a woodchuck & he was at my parents house Upstate, NY standing on their deck.

I did find that a bit odd after I went back and read your post. Not sure how being there for 6 months would put you at more risk. It's either a risk or it isnt. And considering in one pic of the lodge we are staying showed a monkey sitting at the plunge pool...assuming I should get it 'just in case'

Oy!

Luckily FH doesn't have to get all of them. He just has maleria pills when he goes back to Bangladesh.

But I have a feeling I'm going to be all poked and prodded with needles when we go

Gonna just put it out of my mind until next year, when we go there...
