We right now have like a $70 bissell that works very well... picks up tons of cat hair and fine particles... but we registered for the bissell pet hair eraser on BBB... its $150 and had very good reviews... i believe it was compared to a dyson and actaually got better reviews

I'm looking for a vacuum to register for, and even though I don't have a pet anymore maybe I will put this one on anyways. I'd imagine if it is meant for pet hair, it probably is great at picking up allergens, which I need for FH.

yes, FH needs it for that reason also... and with all the dander, i have to vaccuum often or else he'll be dying lol ... figured a pet vacuum was the way to go... if we get it LOL

Re: Vacuums
For years my mom had the Sears Kenmore Progressive cannister model
For christmas my mom got me the new version of the Progressive upright and I love it, not loud and it had a dirt sensor that is red then turns green when clean- I like it a alot!
My mom recently upgraded her Progressive cannister and loves it too..
Not too much $$ and Consumer Reports top vacuum

I have an electrolux which I love but is very old and I just got a new one at my shower on Sunday :)
Consumer reports rates the electrolux and Kenmore as the best.

Re: Vacuums
I got my dyson ball early because mine broke around 5 mos pre shower............so my mom took me out to get it :)

FMIL bought FH a Bissel for his apt. not too long ago. So we won't need to register for a new one. I've used it. No problems!
