Good Luck to all our own LIW V-Day girls.. I know you'll be fine!!!

Question: if 76% divorce on 2/14 marriages.. what's the average % for all the other days?
Curious.

I think its that there are more spontaneous marriages on V-day...a 'lets get married' mentality...

Out of respect to those girls on the board getting married today, though, let's hope it's not a very researched fact

Or the idea that they are hopeless romantics who are idealist rather than realists. Probably the same people who buy/wear heart shaped diamonds...

Oh my! Don't insult other people's taste....so what if someone thinks a heart-shaped diamond is romantic or beautiful? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I hope this statistic is not true b/c my cousin is getting married today!

I also heard on the radio last night that 20% of all marriage proposals [in America] happen on Valentine's Day.

This was not meant as an insult, just basing my comment on the thread from waaaayyy back about what your diamond shape means about your relationship. The highest divorce rates were marquis and heart shaped diamond wearers. Marquis-wearers and buyers were said to be more likely to always be looking for something better because the diamond shape makes it look visually bigger than it is. And the heart wearers/buyers were described as hopeless romantics who's marriages fell apart because they didn't know how to handle problems because they were too idealistic.

I did not think up these theories, I was simply trying to say that Valentine weddings and heart shaped diamonds are both associated with high divorce rates probably for the same reasons.

No offense to people's tastes was intended!!!!

what's wrong with a heart shaped diamond?

eta: i posted this before i read what you responded! (although i think the theory is a bit of a stretch)

There is nothing wrong with anyone's choices, but there was a thread a while ago about what your diamond shape means about you and your relationship.

I don't know if I put much faith in every statistic out there. They are theories that people have come up with that make sense to a degree, but are not necessarily the rule.

I was only stating my brain's connection to the Valentine's Day wedding theory.

I have a heart shaped diamond and that is the STUPIDEST thing I have heard yet...

I like having a heart shaped diamond. I am not a hopeless romantic. and idealist or dreamer. I wanted my stone because it was hard to find, I don't feel it's generic looking and people that have one come far and few. I am getting married in February and NOT on Valentine's Day.
