Valet Tipping

Valet Tipping

I want to cover the valet tips for our guests, I've read that it's usually $1/car. But is that only if you want to tip the attendants additional?

And is the $1/car for each attendant or as a whole and then the attendants split it up equally?

TIA!

I think that $1 per car is kind of cheap. If there is a chance they might split your better off with $2. How will you communicate to your guests not to tip? Won't they do it our of habit anyway.

One of my friends posted signs on the doors on the way ot that the tip had been taken care of.

I think even if you tip them people will still tip. DH did valet for awhile years ago and he said that was always the case esp. when someone wanted their car taken care of / parked up front so they get out fast etc.
Dh always tips the valet regardless.

Every valet has their own system. I think MOST places all the tips are put into a jar and split equally at the end of the night.

I think people expect to tip the valet and they are usually feeling pretty good then (full from a good meal, danced out etc.) and COMPLETELY don't mind tipping - it is habit anyway!

I totally agree my reception hall may have two other events at the same time and you can't separate your guests from others so if we do any tipping it may just be at the end of the night when FH and I leave but I am not going to do any beforehand tipping as I cannot control guests from tipping.

We're the only wedding at my hall that day so I dont have to worry about other guests. I was going to have a sign by the door. I didnt think that people might still tip regardless, so maybe I wont cover that afterall. Thanks for all the input though!
