Vanderbilt Mansion -- False Rumors & Feedback on Tasting

I went to the Vanderbilt Mansion on Sunday for my tasting -- and it was amazing. It's the same caterer as 200 Fifth, Tribecca Rooftop, Fairfield, Land's End, etc. -- so it's no surprise.

I had heard from the boards that the food at the mansion is not cooked on site -- and I can tell you that's not true! I asked about it and they actually took me for a tour of the kitchens. The rumour probably got started because they have a refrigerated truck parked by a door which holds the raw meat, etc because the kitchen area is so small --> but all food is cooked on site.

Also, the bathrooms have totally been re-done. The look great -- but they are still small (only 2 stalls in the ladies room) - but at least it's not the 'institutional' style they were before.

Also, I had also heard stories about Dowling students walking through events -- again, that's outdated info. The mansion is now run by a new caterer -- Lovin' Oven -- who not only keeps out students, it doesn't even let perspective brides & grooms peek in on functions when they are considering the space (I can't tell you how often when wewere shopping for reception sites, we were given free reign to wander around other people's weddings).

Anyway, I passed on the info as I heard it -- and now that I found out I was wrong / things changed, I'm sharing the info...
