Vanderbilt Mansion, Oakdale

Hello! My fiance and I are hopefully getting married the summer 2010. We are in the 'looking at places' stage and are curious about the Vanderbilt Mansion in Oakdale. Does anyone know how many people the Vanderbilt accomodates comfortably? The pictures I have seen look beautiful. I'm looking for a place with high ceilings and an open feeling (I know, weird). Would love to hear some thoughts. Thanks!

When we looked, they said they could fit 150 people but that's when the do tables in the side of the T (the room is shaped like a T). I think it's more for weddings that are 120 people or less.

Definitely for weddings 120 or less. When you have more than that the tables are kind of seperated and some of your guest end up in a corner with no view of the dance floor. But it is a very pretty area.

I agree on the smaller end. When we went to see it, one of the tables was literately 2 feet away from the DJ's Speaker. I'm sure that table of guests were not very happy.

The room is on the small side and if you try to fit more then 120, they set the bars up on the outside of the room in the lobby area. And there will be tables without a view of the dance floor.

I've also seen the DJ speakers be literally on top of a table which must've not made the guests too happy.

I'm having between 120-140 but I definitely wouldn't go over 150 there. I'm going to have the tables in the center of the room, and turn the area by the mantle and windows into the dance floor. They have different layouts they can show you. If you are having a bigger wedding I would look at the Bourne Mansion.
