I went to a wedding there last night and just wanted to let everyone who is getting maried there know that it was fantastic. You will not be disappointed with anything. I'm having my reception there, so I was VERY obsevant of EVERY detail. Everything was run perfectly. The only problem, I noticed is that the dance floor was a little small for the amount of people, but it didn't prevent anyone from dancing and having a great time.
The food was great! The crab & lobster appetizer was excellent and I ordered the filet mignon which was delicious. The cake and other desserts were the best I've ever had at a wedding. Everyone at my table raved about the food.
The service was outstanding! My drinks were refilled constantly all night and my napkin refolded every time I left the table. The staff was on top of everything, but did not get in the way at all. We hardly noticed they were there.
I am so glad I got to go there and see how fantastic the place is as a guest. I can't wait untill next August now!

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion Review
Another Vanderbilt bride-to-be here. Just wanted some logistical info: Do you know how many people or tables there were? Also was there a band or dj - and where were they set up?
THanks.

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion Review
I'm pretty sure there were 15 tables. They had 4 on one wall, 5 on the other, and 3 in each side of the 'T'. I'm not sure how many people there were, but it was close to the room max. They had a DJ which was set up in the front corner of the room, to the right of the main doors.
Are you having a band or DJ? I'm having a 7 piece band and I'm afraid it will be tight. How many guests are you having? I want to try to keep it around 130, but it may wind up being more.

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion Review
We're planning on having a band too like 5-6 pieces. We're also hoping it will be around 130 guest but our invite list is around 165.
When we were at the tasting, we thought that the corner where the DJ is is too small for a band. My FH was trying to see if it made more sense for one corner of the T would be better for the band to be in. But that can't be figured out fully until we know how many people will be coming.

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion Review
I'm not sure how I'm going to set it up either. I have also seen it set up with the band in front of the fireplace and the dance floor in the T. All of the tables werew in the front of the room. I'm not sure if that gives clear picture. Carolyn said they do not recommend set up that way for a few reasons, but the bride wanted it like that.
I'm hoping I'll be able to get rid of the table near the band. If that can be done there will be enough room for them.
Also, the table I sat at during the wedding was in the T, and it really wasn't a problem at all. I know I was concerned about people being pushed away into a corner, but now I'm not worried about it.

Lovin Oven is the best! They have been terrific to me so far. Lulu, We actually have not booked a single thing yet. We are coming up this weekend for turkey day and doing the marathon wedding weekend (appts for photos, invites and of course, gowns!). I am really hoping to nail down at least the invitations! then meeting with Imagine in 2 weeks, and I am thinking they are going to be it (though i plan on pricing a fewothers just to be sure). I am so happy for you Lulu that you booked with Imagine, they just sound awesome. Are you going with them for video as well as photos? When is your big day? Are you doing your ceremony outside?

I'm having my ceremony there too. I'm hoping for nice weather so we can have it outdoors. I'm not too worried though because the indoor conservatory is also beautiful for a ceremony.
I'm using Imagine for video too. I'm pretty sure that they only allow you to book both together. I was a little concerned about that before I met with them, but thier video was just as good as thier pictures so it was no problem.
