I don't want to relive the drama of my previous post on this matter, but I wanted to offer suggestions and ideas to those brides for whom this is as issue.
ASK your catering hall.
Our hall is giving is a 4th choice at no extra cost, so we can have beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian. They also said they would include vegan meals on request for the handful or our guests who willl need them.
I was really excited about that.
We also went through the cocktail hour selections and found wasy to make them vegetarian or vegetarian friendly. I was really so happy and surprised that it was so easy and my hall was so accomodating.
Good Luck

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
My MOH was a vegaetarian when she got married and had at least a dozed vegetarian guests at her wedding. Her catering hall offered her a vegetarian pasta dish. Her dad was just upset because the hall was charging them as much for pasta as the surf and turf option.
It is becoming more and more popular and I think catering halls are sensitive to it.

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
I'm a vegetarian, but the only one I know of at my wedding, so I just picked a dish I would like for the buffet and the sit down... The rest are for the carnivores LOL

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
For me it was a big issue because first of all I don't really feel comfortable serving meat, like when i have frineds over I never serve meat, and there will be more vegetarians at my wedding than most. I don't know why, lol, but I have a lot of vegetarian friends, and my mom is a vegetarian, so I wanted it to be really vegetarian friendly. Als, I think the vegetarian dish will be so delicious, many people will go for it. I'm really happy our hall was able to accomodate us.

Thanks for the info. I've heard nothing but good things about the NRC and this puts them over the top in accommodating guests. Wish they weren't so far from me. They would have been one of my top choices.

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
North Ritz is a great place! my cousin got married there a few years ago and it was one of the best weddings i've been to (besides my own).
I'm glad to hear you'll be getting your semi-vegetarian wedding! I remember the post from a while back and the stir you caused!

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
I am not vegetarian at all but I have ordered the vegetarian selections at weddings and other events simply because they sounded better. In this age of political correctness and physical awareness, halls need to be accommodating to all of their guests.

I'm glad you've heard only good things about NRC. Isn't it only about 15 minutes from JT?

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
it makes the wedding soooo much better when there are vegan selections, my brothers, sister and mom are all vegans, it isn't fun to give a card and leave hungry

Yep, and that's what I always experience, and if I ask for a vegetairn meal it's usually and afterthought and ice cold and gross. So I'm really happy everyone will be accomodated. I can't put the vegan choice on my menu I don't think, because they said it was ok if it was under 10, and I don't want a lot of people ordering it. Do you guys thik I should write 'vegan available on request' or should I just try to tell people ahead of time?

Re: Vegetarian Wedding Revisited
Do you know of any vegans? It would totally be your choice, I have only seen 2 invites with vegan choice on it...so I don't think anyone would ever expect it

I'm mostly a vegetarian, so I'm pretty sensitive towards making sure everyone can eat (and not just a plate of vegetables!). Our hall is throwing in pasta primavera for no extra chage... it will probably cost them a lot less then the other entrees.

An all vegan weddings at a reception hall - I would love to be a guest! ha.

Me, too.
That's great that your hall can be so accomodating. And though you posted it on the 06 board, congratulations to you on being able to choose a 2006 date!

I'm having an entirely vegan wedding at NRC in May, 06. My fiancee and I are the only vegans that will be in attendance, but our feeling is that we don't use animal products because we feel strongly that animals are not to be eaten, etc. We've given them almost two pages worth of ideas for vegan alternatives to the normal fare, as well as a vegan crepes recipe for the crepes station. I say go with your heart, if you want a veg wedding, do it, if not, have meat options, too.
OMG - that is so awesome. I was a vegan for 4 years, and I would LOVE to go to an all vegan wedding! That is just awesome!
