This is the the style of updo I want....do I choose a headpiece that will work w/ that or do I have them style around the headpiece I pick? And obviously I could not have a blusher over my face with a style like that right? It would have to be pinned in towards the bottom?
Definitely choose the hairstyle first. You have to be comfortable and feel beautiful in the hairstyle you choose so that should come first. It will determine how your face will be framed, what kind of headpiece you will need and where your veil will go. Oh, and I agree with NYCHICK-- you can wear a blusher with that 'do.

Re: veil and headpiece
you don't think it would be silly looking having to cover a high updo? Plus not really sure I want a blusher over my face really...I always thought my dad would be there to lift it, and now that he passed away the idea of that doesnt appeal to me any longer. but I would not want the viel pinned too low on my head....

Re: veil and headpiece
I am having a updo and I am having a blusher and the veil wll be low.....it looked fine. You should pick you hairstyle first and then pich the veil and stuff. If you hair is open then I say a tiara with combs is your best bet. For updoes, I think a full circle or headband is much better, speaking from experience with my trial. I had a tiara and the thing hurt so bad.....
ps - I had my veil made, and I had the blusher made long enough to cover my face even though it was put in underneath my updo.

Re: veil and headpiece
I may not even do a tiara...I like those clips with the flowers, or even clips with crystals..like on invisable thread...if that explains it right. Here is my dress...I was kinda wanting to go w/ the fairy princess look.
Why don't you go to someone who can answer all your ????? I'm using Denise Leli Headpieces she put my hair up and was so informative as how wear the veils and where they should be placed The way you look is so important because not only is it the most important day of your life but its in PICTURES FOREVER Good luck and have fun which is just what and appt with Denise is

Re: veil and headpiece
You do a bunwrap with a veil attached or on a seperate comb, or even a tiara with the veil on a seperate comb.
