Veil Help

Veil Help

I need some advice. I'm not really knowledgeable about veils, but from all the wonderful recommendations, I believe I'm going to purchase one from Sewdeb. But now I just have to decide which length.

When I purchased my dress, one of the girls had said that she had seen my dress with a very simple cathedral length veil. I have been looking for pics, but can't find any.

I'm afraid that if I choose a long veil that the detail of my train will be kind of hidden as I walk down the aisle.

What do you guys think? And do you have any pics of fingertip or other shorter types of veils??

TIA!!!

Here's my dress, btw...

I think a detachable cathedral length would look very nice. After the ceremony you can take it off. Veils are so sheer I don't think it would hide the details of your dress.

Detachable? I've never heard of that.... I should add, I am not going to wear my veil at the cocktail hour or reception..

Thanks!

Re: Veil Help

My dress does not have a train, so I bought a cathedral veil for that effect (I am also not wearing it for the cocktail hour and reception.) I was also concerned about hiding the detail of my dress, but as you can see from the pretty-awful pictures of me below, it doesn't. I think it really depends on the fabric...just make sure you choose something very sheer. Hope this helps

KVS- I absolutely LOVE your dress. It is stunning. And your veil is beautiful...

Thanks for posting pics!

That's a gorgeous gown. I would wear a one-tier cathedral length veil with no embellishments to detract from that amazing train. Veils are very very sheer...you don't have to worry that it will hide that. And IMO, a fingertip or elbow length veil won't look as elegant. A cathedral will maintain that long line that the gown creates.

Guess everyone seems to have a similar opinion. Although I think that a cathedral veil would look beautiful, I think that a drop veil (elbow length) would be a better choice. Have you tried veils on at your salon to see what works best with your gown. Your dress is so STUNNING and the back detail is something that you definitly don't want to take away from.....it should be the focal point on your gown.........good luck with your decision though

Re: Veil Help

Even though I'd go with a traditional VERY SHEER and light 1-tier cathedral veil, I am posting a photo of a WALTZ LENGTH for your consideration.

A WALTZ length hits between the knees and ankles so it skims a bride's back wonderfully but then dissolves into the amazing design like I can see on your perfect gown. This way you'd get the long flowing look of the gown but not actually be covering the details.

Also here is the gallery of different materials if you haven't checked already. You can tell that the most see-through material is silk tulle but bridal illusion can be good too. Just don't choose organza or chiffon, because it's too heavy. The great link from the same site you're ordering from:

Ultimate Photos of Veil Material and Drape

I thought that waltz length would look weird but here is an example I tried on (NOT the gown or veil I chose.) ETA: I really think that a shorter veil would cut you in half visually with so much detail on the train. Good luck!

I'm a big fan of the cathedral length. It's so traditional and so classic. I think it would look amazing with your gown.

This bride wore a Romona. Is that your designer?
