Veil Length..

Veil Length..

What determines how long a veil should be? I didn't even want to wear a veil but everyone says that I should b/c I'm getting married in a Catholic Church. I am not doing a tiara though. So possibly a veil attached to a comb that I'll take out after the Church. When I went to RK Bridal yesterday, the sales lady suggested a cathedral lenght veil b/c she said that I'm tall and a cathedral length veil will look nicer than a shoulder length one on me. I'm 5'8 so I'll be around 5'10 with heels... but I didn't know it goes by the girl's height. I was opting for shoulder length so I don't cover up the dress.

And when do you take the veil off? I'm thinking about doing it in the limo after the Church so I have some pics with it on and some with it off.

Re: Veil Length..

YOU decide what length your veil should be. If you don't want to wear one, maybe an elbow length one, so it's not as dramatic as a catherdal length.

All veils are on combs (tiaras/headbands/headpieces are an additional piece) so you can take it off easily. Most girls take it off after the ceremony. Some take it off after the first dance. Others leave them on the entire night.

Yea Im 5'7' and my is elbow length because the detailing on the back of my dress is too pretty to cover up. Its the one of the MAIN reasons I LOVED my dress so much. YOU def decide what length you want not your height.

AND Im planning to wear it MAYBE through the first dance but I havent decided yet. This way I can have some pics with and then the rest of the night without. Its REALLY up to you when you decide to take it off like the girl said above. Plenty of girls take it off after the ceremony. O and just to add Im doing only 1 tier and NOT wearing the veil over my face when I walk in and Im getting married in a Catholic Church as well. Theres no way I would do that, thats just SOOO not me.

Its really up to you hun =)

I think it is up to you and what looks good with the type of dress you have. I have always wanted a really long veil, but I have to see how that will look with whatever dress I will buy. The weddings I have been to, most of the brides have taken the veil off for the reception.
