Veil or no veil? (took pic down)

Veil or no veil? (took pic down)

Thanks girls! I had to take the photo of my dress down because I'm not sure who's lurking.

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should wear a veil. I've tried my dress on with a few veils and I really think the veil is too much. My mother insists that it's not too much and that I should absolutely wear a veil. I'm entertaining the idea of a birdcage veil but I haven't tried one on yet. Here's a picture of the model in my dress (I don't have a photo of me with a veil). The organza piece on the back of my dress is ivory and not grey. Is this dress birdcage veil material or will it look silly? And what do you think about no veil at all? I'm going to take the photo down soon so lurkers don't see my dress!

i think a small(shorter ones) veil, tucked underneath a bun like that would look great. I say veil By the way...how r ya, i havent spoken to you in forever!

Hey Bon! It's nice to see you on here! How have you been?? How's the planning coming along?

I also thought that if I wore a veil it should be short. My mother thinks the longer the better, but I seriously think it's overkill!

I say a simple silk tulle veil, no beading ot lace on it. I definitely don't think its too much to put a veil with your gown.
I'm not sure if the birdcage veil style goes with your shape of dress. I think that headpiece style looks best on the mermaid/slinky satin silhouettes. Since your dress has a nice movement in the A line skirt, just make sure your veil has that silhouette.
I would say either fingertip veil or cathedral..cathedral is nice b/c it doesn't cut off halfway through your silhouette.
Just no accoutrements on the veil and you're good to go!
Ha Ha is it obvious I work in fashion LOL

the dress is a statement all on its own....its stunning! I think a long veil will take away from it. But u cant rule out anything until you try both on. GL!

I've been great. Planning is starting tom. We r meeting with patken, and i have 4 other appts in nov. Then i have to find some way to pay for it all. Its more exciting then i thought! Im glad im back on the site...i really need it now. Now i know why some of my gf's loved this site, and used it for their planning.

Hope all is well tho...

You should go with a short veil. I'm using a short veil bc I looooove the back of my dress.... I thought a long veil would have been too much.

WOW! Excellent advice. I think you're totally right that the veil shouldn't be too embellished. Less is probably more. I think I'll have to wind up going with a veil because of how disappointed my mom would be if I didn't. When I tried on short veils, I felt like they 'cut me in half' so-to-speak. Looking at me was like looking at two halves - the top and the bottom - if that makes any sense. Too long seemed to be too many layers (the silk dress, the organza detachable train and then the veil). I wish I had photos to show you!

Thank you so much for your compliments on my dress!

So good to hear that you're in full planning mode! Good luck with your appointments and everything. Paying is the not-so-fun part LOL I know what you mean - I don't know what I would do without this site!
