I just put a deposit on a headpiece and I'm wondering about not bothering with the veil. I want to have my hair up and am not sure where to put the veil. Are there any other brides out there who are not doing the veil?

Re: veil or not veil
I went to a wedding last summer where the bride just had her hair in an updo with flowers in it, no veil at all. She looked gorgeous.
I didn't know if this was completely unheard of. I know most brides don't both with a blusher any more. I'm just not sure if i like the look of the veil underneath the updo in the back on me.

Same here - BUT - You need to love it, so if you don't want one, don't get one! I'm doing a lot of 'non-traditional' things even though others feel 'you HAVE to do that...' so just do what makes you happy. Maybe when you have hair trials the person can show you ways you didn't think of to wear the veil, though. If you'd like a veil but are worried about the look, let the hair person help you. If you just hate veils, don't do it....

Re: veil or not veil
It's totally up to you. I actually bought a veil, and right before the ceremony I decided I didn't want to put it on. I LOVED my veil too, but with hairpins, and makeup and a big dress, and fancy shoes, I felt like an overdone turkey.
But that was MY choice, just do whatever you are comfortable with! There are no RULES anymore! Just to be HAPPY
