veils

So onto the next thing: veil and headpiece. I tried on a beautiful mantilla fingertip veil, along with three head pins (small with crystals and pearls) i was quoted a riiiidiculous amount...needless to say, where did you guys get yours?? and was it reasonable?

Definitely check out Barons at the Tri-County flea market. they will custom make any veil you want and their prices are reasonable. (They are only opened Thurs - Sun)

Re: veils

I went to check out both barron's in tri county and bridal styles.

The veil material is on par, almost about the same feel IMO, maybe bridal styles has a little bit nicer feeling nylon tulle but still a bit rough. Barron's may be a bit cheaper and more convenient to get to though if you live on LI.

bridal styles has tons of tiaras, they seem to know what they are doing as well as barrons. I think their headpieces are nicer than barron's, they look like they have more substance, but they're more expensive too in comparison.

I'm not sure what to do though about veils, I've not fallen in love with anything yet, but I may settle.

I bought my headpiece from Thomas Knoell I'm in love with it but he is pricey.

I guess it's pretty subjective on what you wanna spend? I really don't wanna spend a lot on veil, but obviously has to be something i like. I found a veil vendor on etsy who has something very similar to what I tried on and liked (mantilla fingertip) however, im afraid of ordering and not liking the feel of it? ughhh so annoying! i really wanna buy it cus the price is great and the pix look cute.. has any of you bought online?

i went to barons (im not familiar w LI, but found it) and she'd make mine for I still felt the price was outside from what I wanna stay...

Can you ever return anything from etsy. I found a nice hair pin but am hesitant about the quality in person.

So exciting. If you don't see what you want at tri-county definately go into the city. Amanda is wearing my veil, but we went got the material and crystals for her belt from M&J trim in Manhattan and saved a fortune.
